Finally interested in a Daytona.....
I have noticed that especially over the past couple of weeks, it seems like there is a Daytona in my face, every post I check. I guess it is growing on me, and now I'm presented with the opportunity to pick up a SS 116520 white dial. I've read countless articles, but can't really get a good idea on value. I only buy if I love the item and if it is a great price, not a steal, but a good value. I'm having a hard time getting a consistent number. Can someone help me out?? What is a great price on a SS Daytona? Any other Daytona tidbits are helpful too.

A great price likely depends on age, service history, warranty, box & papers . . .
Prices are rising. You can look at the sales forum here to get an idea of what they are selling for and decide how much you are willing to pay, compared to a current ceramic bezel model. Good luck!

The Daytona is hot right now. If you want it now, you'll pay a premium.

Agreed however, buecause of the release of the 116500 it has caused a huge demand for the Daytona. I would suggest you wait until the hype dies down and pick up at an even better price. I just sold a DSSD James Cameron edition, 2 Year’s ago it was being sold over retail and now you can pick it up well under retail. The Daytona is a Hot watch so it will take a little longer for prices to come back to reality! A few years ago they were selling for 10-11k, now a good deal is anywhere between 11-13k but again the prices have shot up because of demand. Good luck bud

This is amusing.
I recall so many posts, before the release of the ceramic version, prognosticating the demise of the 520 if the ceramic were to ever become a reality. They were going to be worth nothing, you'd better dump them now, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. OP: what price have you been quoted? |

Here's how it goes with Daytonas, there is no such "market value" or consistent price. These watches are so hot that a "good" price is what ever the tag says at the moment. Search around but understand every Daytona you'll find should be treated as a independent case, the others won't affect it. This may be the worse time to get a 520 imo, you will pay msrp of a new 500, which obviously are impossible to find.
long story short: If you really want it, you will have to pay what ever they are asking, no negotiation whatsoever.

$10k would be a steal assuming it's in relatively good condition. What year/serial is it?
Even if it needs work and you factor in the cost of an RSC service, you'd be in good shape. |

Now is not the time to start liking hot Rolexes.

There isn't really a "bargain" price for any s/s Daytonas. Just buy what you can afford in the best condition you can find.

Like stocks... hard to really know when a hot streak will end. You can jump in now and enjoy the ride or keep waiting with the hope that it'll come back down. Historically, this doesn't seem to happen too often w/ a Daytona, however.
To answer your question.....anything close to original MSRP would seem like a good deal at this point. |

First day of wearing it and it is a gorgeous piece, but not sure I like the comfort. My DJ and sub seems to wear a little better. I'll give it the weekend to see if it's just the jitters, or not for me. Might be passing it along at a good deal to someone.

I'll probably get knocked for this but I prefer the T/T Daytona. At the moment I have the Daytona 116503 new model White Dial Gold Sub Dials. But I was passing the only Rolex AD in my City & decided to see what they had in the window on display & I noticed the Daytona with the MOP eight Diamonds Dial & fell in love with it immediately. I know the Dial is similar to the one I have that's why I'm doing a part exchange. I buy from a Grey Dealer over in the north of England. This will be my third Rolex in three year's I also have a Sub 116613LB with the Blue Sunburst Dial. I get a great deal off them. Even though I have to fly over & then get two Trains I love it,it gives me a great buzz. I couldn't buy the Rolexes here there's no Grey Dealers in my Country & the only Rolex AD is asking outrages prices. In the UK I will pick up the Daytona MOP Diamonds for 14,350 GBP over here the same Watch costs 20,250 Euro so even taking the travel expenses into account & the conversion of Euro into Sterling I'm saving a lot of money the two Watches I already have saved me somewhere around 3,000 & 3,500 Euro. So I will be off on my little trip in May of next year I even booked my flight already

Why? That's the question I would ask. Don't believe all the hype.

I wonder how much people will pay for a BNIB 520.
