so tired of winter
does anyone else get this so sick of winter feeling?
it gets worse as i get older, sick of darkness, sick of cold, sick of wet, it wouldn't be so bad if you were guaranteed great weather for the rest of the year, but quite often its just warm and wet, i am referring to the u.k of course, so if you want to come here, this is what you get, and i live in the south. rant over lifes beautiful whatever the weather, but i sure wish i lived on Tenerife for 6 months of the year, or southern california which i imagine seems like paradise to this crap. |

It's a different situation, but here in the Arizona desert, after several consecutive months of temps in the triple digits, it starts to get very old.

Sorry, I've been shoveling 14 inches of Bomb-Cyclone all morning I couldn't quite understand the issue, darkness and rain is it?
Forgive me I couldn't resist...

I moved from Alberta Canada in the middle 1980s because I was tired of winter. First to LA, then San Jose then Santa Rosa.
For me quality of live does not include cold weather or snow. |

I used to be a summer baby. Still like the summer.
But I hated the winter. Hated being cold. I actually am starting to really enjoy it.

i love seeing southern California in the films, i also love seeing pawn stars from vegas, whenever they go outside its just wall to wall sunshine,
i really could live in a warm climate, florida probably, i have been twice, it seemed easier a few years ago, but now its a dread, every day, cold, cold and more cold. |

But if you have no summer at all and just grey and rain I can see how that would be very tough to take. The one thing we do have is seasonal change, and plenty of it!

Yup. As a North East person winter is long and dreary. Sadly this is the beginning of it for us. Another 8 to 10 weeks of it go if we’re lucky.

Rain/The Beatles
If the rain comes They run and hide their heads They might as well be dead If the rain comes If the rain comes When the sun shines They slip into the shade And sip their lemonade When the sun shines When the sun shines Rain, I don't mind Shine, the weather's fine I can show you That when it starts to rain Everything's the same I can show you I can show you Rain, I don't mind Shine, the weather's fine Can you hear me That when it rains and shines It's just a state of mind Can you hear me Can you hear me Songwriters: JOHN LENNON, JOHN WINSTON LENNON, PAUL MCCARTNEY, PAUL JAMES MCCARTNEY © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC |

Not a fan of winter. We get four seasons here in this region. Mainly dislike that once it snows it keeps me off the golf course. Last year really sucked as we had snow on the ground for 4 months. We have barely any snow this year, but enough to cover the course and it stays cold so it does not melt. Raining today and 30's so maybe some golf soon.
Plus I drive a convertible and would much rather have the top down. Wife and I both love the desert and if the right gig comes along we will relocate. Entertained a few offers over the last couple of years, but not enough to make the jump.

Everybody so far has failed to mention dangerous driving conditions.

All places have their pro/cons
I used to be near St. Louis. Had all four seasons (which I enjoyed). Air could be really stagnant in the summer making the heat/humidity feel worse and allergies were pretty high due to all the forests in Missouri. Now in Dallas. No seasons really. Summer, summer2, summer 3 and maybe some fall/winter. Lots of breeze (nice), flat as a pancake with nothing outdoor. No natural lakes in Texas. They claim one, but it was the result of a log jam. Leaves constantly falling and pests everywhere (bugs, snakes, rats, etc) Sure you can like in SoCal. But cost is prohibitive. So there is cons also. Bottom line.....oh well.

Actually there are some more moderate locations. From what I’ve heard North Carolina comes to mind.

You can’t have a decent summer. Whenever it warms up all of your rail systems buckle. You will just have to live with perpetual dreariness.

I would rather be slightly cold than hot so the UK does suit me. I hate sweating and humidity and sticking to everything, but as I get older I am increasingly not a fan of the cold, esp biting winds, and I even asked for some ear muffs for Xmas as Dec was so cold, only ones left were some leopardskin ones but I didn't care. When I was a teenager I used to go out at night in just a shirt, no jacket, and it was much colder in the 90s before the ozone and greenhouse etc.

UK and Vancouver BC have the same winter - dark gloomy and wet.
Looking forward to spring. |
