Anyone Battling Influenza?

Anyone had influenza this season? I put off get a flu shot for various silly reasons, and I either have influenza, or I'm dying a slow, tortured painful death by fever and body aches. I worked in medicine from age 16 to 56, getting exposed to every virus and bacteria known to man. But I've never been this sick.

Anyone else battling true influenza?

I had a chest cold that took three weeks to recover from. Several guys at work have the flu. They looked near death when they were sent home.

You're the Doc, but I assume Tamiflu didn't work?

That's one bad bug.

My gf had the flu a few weeks ago, doc gave her some tamiflu. I fought it off with 2000mg vitamin c and chicken soup!

Both wife and I had it a couple weeks ago - it lasted 10 days and we are still not back to 100%. And we both had the flu shot.

I didn't get Tamilfu. It's always in short supply during epidemics, and I figured it's needed for the high risk patients.

Wife and I had it in mid Dec. Not fun. Then we had post viral infections and had to take antibiotics. Still feeling the effects of the whole ordeal.

And to think.....Feb is the worst time of year for the flu.

Hope you feel better soon.

dodge it this year.

our practice is busy.

quite a few sick patients, ecmo machines are running full force.

thankfully 3 years of living in a fraternity house, and a tour in helmand, afghanistan has boosted my immune system to the nth degree...

Get well. I always begrudgingly get the flu shot. I travel globally in my work so I’m exposed to a myriad of germs in public places and airplanes. Haven’t gotten the flu this year but got a chest cold over the holidays that lasted a couple of weeks. I’m no doctor but it seems when I get a flu shot, if I do get sick it seems like the symptoms are less severe and I recover more quickly.

Went in yesterday. Flu tested negative. Pneumonia was diagnosis. Doc order to stay in bed until antibiotic, cough syrup are used up and go to hospital with meds if it worsens. So far so good. 103.8 is down to 100.7 within 24 hours. Doc was right to stay in bed. All I want to do is sleep and while doing so, sweat it out.

Get well soon, race ya to wellness!

I was 3 days off work/ 5 days in bed. Week 2 back to work not feeling great. Week 3 - but better/ persistant cough. Week 4 - lot better which was week before Xmas

Lot of people at work/ on public transport looking like death warmed up & carrying on which probably why it's spreading so much

Get well soon, Joey.

The flu in the UK is pretty bad and I hear that over 80 people have died with it.

I've never had flu, not once, ever.

It really mashes my spuds when I hear some muppet out and about whining that they have flu yet they're walking around working, shopping, whatever. My doc told me that if you're lying in bed and there's a suitcase full of £20 notes in your front garden, if you can go get it then you haven't got flu.

I am as i’m typing. It’s been like this for 3 weeks. I should blame myself too because as soon as I felt better i went to ride my bike and it all started again. I’ve been at home all day yesterday,to day and plan to do so tomorrow aswell. So freaking boring.

Haha, we have something in common! My daughter did the same thing yesterday and has a low grade fever. My son has had a fever for 5 days. It was 103.7F when I took him to the doctor on Wed. Just hope they get better soon and wife and I stay healthy.

Problem is you need that suitcase full of £20 notes to get any decent healthcare in the UK at the moment, NHS is busting at the seams!

I have a bit of a cough this morning, but nothing severe.

I haven't had a flu shot yet.

I realize I've put it off, but I go to the VA Thursday for a primary appointment, so I'll get one then.

Yep. Had it since Christmas Eve I would guess. Got tamiflu and it seemed to knock down the worst of it but I am still dragging ass. Sinus issues and always tired.
