Do you think this is true?

I was just doing a search to see what the actually value of the pure gold in a Rolex is, and I found the results surprising, but im not sure if the source is legit or not.

The website is some Rolex replica site that compares their fake watches to a real one so I'm not sure if its accurate or if they are just looking for sales.

I have a hard time believing that a solid gold president only has about $2000 worth of gold in it but sells for 10 times that amount, what do you think?

by posting this link I do not support buying a replica and in fact I recently sold a replica I had to a pawn shop for $300 because I want to save for a REAL one. I only paid $225 for it brand new. Ill stick with my bulova until that point...and I have an extra $300 now. haha

anyway, if anyone can find any more legit sources I would be interest

Oh Im sure thats about right depending on the gold market. A Rolex sells for 5 to 6 Xs its actual cost to Rolex. Its nothing but money for Rolex and the A/Ds Im sure even the most expensive 18K model lets say a Daytona costs Rolex about $6,000 to produce.

I hardly think that a business that is illegal to begin with, is a very reputable source for information.

However, jewelry (or watches) is never sold as a reflection of the value of gold content..

That sounds about right for the actual amount of gold in that watch.
Have you seen an ounce of gold?
Think about how much mass in actually in the watch & case.
Now it is only 18k, so 75% of the watch is gold, the other 25 is other Lighter, less dense ( = more mass) metals.
I would guess about 2 and a bit oz of gold is about right.

I think the value of a SS daytona's steel is probably less than 100 bucks.
But turning that "inexpensive" metal into something that Rolex can collects lots of money from it is an art of its own form.
