Have you gotten rid of it. Banged up
My elbow few weeks ago, doc said it was fine
And fluid would go away, been 4 weeks with extremely slow progress.

Bursitis can last a long time. Did you go to HSS? They’re the best orthopods in the city.

Olecranon (elbow) bursitis virtually always resolves itself. The problem is no doc can tell you how long that process may take, could be days, weeks or short months. Things to do are:

- reduce activity
- avoid direct pressure (i.e. not resting on your elbow)
- ice
- compression (e.g. elasticated bandage like Tubigrip)

It can be aspirated, but this isn’t always recommended unless doing the above fails, because a) the fluid often reaccumulates and b) sticking a needle in it risks infection, which can be serious.

If it becomes painful, you need to see a doc (as pain can indicate infection).

Rest is your friend.

I’ve had it in my right elbow and in my right shoulder from playing squash. The only thing I found that helped was to rest. Massage therapy also seemed to help with the pain.

Good luck, I hope you heal quickly.

All docs said was its fine, itll go away on its own. Been 4 weeks. Aspirated 3 times and its finally shrinking. First time to get this. Just weird having a golfball of fluid hanging off your elbow tip

Had it in my shoulder once. A round of anti inflammatory medication and it was gone.
