I must be blind. I ride the trains everyday and work in Midtown Manhattan, but rarely see Subs. Maybe a handful a month. Granted, I’m not really looking.

The Sub is the most counter fitted watch in the world... I would be curious about how many of the "spottings" are of the genuine article. Unfortunately, I believe there are a lot of people who thing they are sporting the real deal, but they have been duped...

8k isn't a lot of money. The people who purchase a black sub will probably wear it for a lifetime. If a deli owner can afford it you know it isn't a big deal!

In South Florida, subs are very common but so are DJs and to a lesser extent Daytonas. There are dozens of places to buy them, well-healed tourists from all over the world wearing them, and we definitely are one of the more materialistic areas.

not to say everyone who has a submariner is a douchbag, but i agree there are a lot of douchy people who know nothing about watches OR rolexes but for some reason the first one they turn to is a submariner

"If you ran into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole.
If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole."

Because you're perceiving all Submariner owners as a douchebag, does it make you one when you put it on? Or were you a douchebag before you put a hunk of metal on your wrist to represent who you are as a person? Seems to me you're viewing watches in the wrong way.

I never see them around here. I’ve literally seen one 5 digit in the wild around here....but it was at a Rolex AD event so don’t think that really counts. Other than that I’ve seen a TT DJ and a vintage GMT from mid 70s (can’t remeber exact year). That’s it.

But I do agree if you live in NYC or other major city they can be quite common. I don’t really care either way. I don’t let other people dictate what I choose, love my Sub.

LMAO. One of my favorite quotes. I am not sure who said it first, but it was used and delivered well on a tv show called Justified that used to be on FX.
On that note.... Raylan Givens' watch in the pilot of that show was a Sub. After that episode, I believe they had him wearing cheap watches. A Sub really did not fit the character in my opinion.

I live and work in the Silicon Valley. Not only do I rarely see subs, I rarely see luxury watches, period. Now, iWatch sightings - that's a different story.

That's harsh and a bit of a generalization, don't you think?

In his defense, his syntax would indicate that "every douchebag has a submariner", not that "everyone who has a submariner is a douchebag."

I see more DJs. But I see several subs each day I'm in court, which is a few times per week on average.

I never see them... I often wonder when I'm out if people even realize what's on my wrist, I was at the Valspar (PGA Golf) and other then the golfers I saw like 3 total, two of the new datejust and 1 sub. I've never run into anyone wearing a Hulk... that's why I love it so much. You might see a Sub, but it's always the black.

Subs are everywhere? I guess that's why people can't find them in the stores.

I go to school near Sacramento and have family in the East Bay - if anything I rarely see anything but Apple Watches or smartwatches in general.

I'll occasionally see one or two downtown. Being on TRF, it really illustrates how common they really are among watch enthusiasts in particular. I suppose the popularity of this watch could also be seen as its own demise.

I’ve never seen my ceramic bluessy in the wild. A 5 digit Sub once every couple of months. Two Daytonas period. One other person with a GMTc another with a SubC (both are buds of mine).

75% of the world's counterfeit watches are estimated to be Rolex branded.... and I would guess that many of those are Subs.... so many of the Subs we see may well be counterfeits. As for me, I don't see a lot.... if I REALLY pay attention I'm guessing a couple a day.

Haha. I live in LA and the worst drivers are the BMW owners! (I just sold my M2) ;)

If you are commuting to work you probably see the same guys wearing Sub. I see much more APs around than Subs, the second one being DJ.

Texas-Timex. I see at least, AT LEAST four a day at the office, and averaege around two when I go out to restaurants. It’s a great watch, but too common... at least here in Houston.

It definitely depends on where you are. I see quite a lot here in Bangkok but when travelling to Ireland I might see one very rarely.

I rarely see a Sub in the course of my every-day life. I see 36 mm DJs much more often than other Rolex watches, which is not surprising when you consider that I live in a community populated primarily by retirees.
