Help! Datejust 116200 mis-aligned hour indexes
Dear all,
I need your help! My friend purchased this pre-owned 116200 Full BP, card shown Harrods London. After carefully checking it up, we found the hour indexes are not aligned with the Roman minutes markers. Can you all please view and advise whether this is manufacturer's quality mistake or this is good fake piece? Many thanks! |

Help! Datejust 116200 mis-aligned hour indexes
Ironic that there are quite a few posts like this given the claim by Rolex that 'every Rolex dial is designed and manufactured in-house, largely by hand to ensure perfection.'
Looking at the photographs it also appears that the dial is misaligned to the engraving on the rehaut. If it's got full box and papers I'd say it's most likely genuine from Harrods so would take it back to get it replaced if you can. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The printing on the dial is mis-aligned, the batons look correct. Definite manufacturing fault.

It's a little hard to believe an obvious fault like skewed dial printing would actually get pass QC. Just my 2 cent Sent from my F8132 using Tapatalk |

From local guys (watch traders), all said genuine but in fact, i have same thinking with you, dont believe this thing passed QC For the date alignment, just due to photo. You could only see bottom rehault but top would not ;) |

OT, but FWIW, if I bought a new Rolex today it would be that combo right there.

Looks like the entire dial is slightly rotated clockwise. You can see the date window is not centered - bigger gap on bottom. I would think they open it up, rotate the dial back the other way and you should be good to go.

Wow, that is a bad one. Some are subtle, but stand out to our critical eyes. A child could see the problem with that one without being given a hint to what's wrong with it. Terrible QC.

I'd have to say it's likely a fake dial or watch with a real card from another Rolex unless you flip the card and show the rehaute.
I simply can't believe this was a 'after carefully' checking up (wtf?)discovery. Hope it gets sorted, but your friend is likely playing you. |

Is it normal for Harrods (presumably an English company) to sell Rolex and give warranty cards that are not in English?

I may be wrong but to fix this dial I think the batons would have to be removed and reglued. Rotation in one way or the other won't fix the alignment to the roman hour markers printed on the dial. |

Just take it to a Rolex Service Center and have them fix it. If they don't tell you that it is a fake, then it should be all good.
Could also just go back to seller and see if your friend can get a refund.

But if the batons are just put on by machine like you suggest it makes more sense. That is probably how it happened. But even after all that HOW IN THE WORLD DOES THIS GET PAST QC??? |

It looks like the batons were just "left justified."
The watch maker just had a slip in thinking or perhaps it was his first day. It might be a collectible. |

The batons are usually riveted on a Rolex with pre-drilled holes. As such the most likely mishap is that the dial printing was off on this production run but the batons are where they should be... oh, and the QC team were working blindfolded for good measure :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
