I would like to know your opinions...

I was watching a thread that had the title: "What is your favorite Rolex?" Of course I did not see the 130 responses but by making a general look I do not see any Oyster Perpetual or Datejust the two in their different sizes. I've been seeing for a while that more than a Rolex Forum this is a Rolex Sports Watches Forum. What happens with the other models? Do not like them or would not buy them?
For this reason, will it be the shortage or the surcharge for sports models?
And this I see a long time ago, I have almost 1100 posts. I would like to know your opinions. Thanks friends.

I’m not exactly sure what opinion you are seeking. My 3 Rolex watches are yellow gold DayDate, BLNR GMT II, and stainless DateJust with white gold bezel. I have a Patek Calatrava for dressy events. I’ve looked at other Rolex models, but backed away. I feel I have 3 representative models and others are too similar to what I have. The new basic Sub Date is tempting, but the clasp doesn’t feel right on my wrist and it looks a lot like my GMT. I also only buy watches that are easily read...... thus, no Daytona.

As someone already said : "My favourite Rolex is the one I am wearing..." Can't help but agree.

Cheers

This is the Rolex Forum, it just happens that the professional models are the favourite from the lot.

The Rolex professional references are the most popular and for good reason.

There are many choices outside of these with many brands too, but if I’m starting with my first Rolex it’s going to be a professional reference.

The DJ’s and OP’s are all beautiful watches. It’s just that, I’m my opinion, the sports models have a bit more character to them.

I love my SS DJ36 fluted white sticks with jubilee it really makes me smile, nevertheless I just purchased a Explorer 1 as sometimes I prefer to use something more under radar or more casual. They are close designs but complement each other in every aspect color/bezel/bracelet/size/dial/hands/clasp.

I've had a lot pro sports, but my next may be a DJ rhodium or white OP. Lots of fans of these models here too, but obviously the minority.

DJ 41 is my favorite Rolex. Tons of different options, great versatility, updated movement. What’s not to love?

Prefer sports models. Not that I have not tried. Had a couple DD's and a few DJ's over the years. I do not buy and trade like I once did and the DJ and DD was 36mm when I slowed down. Just felt too small for me. I have avoided trying the new larger models as I am happy with my collection currently.

As other have touched on, if I go ever for a true dress watch, I know blasphemy, I may look at PP.

DJ is a wonderful watch (my first Rolex was a DJ TT 1601 JUBILEE), but a Sub is perfect for me right now.

I own a DJ 41 and a SS SubC. Love them both. Considering an Explorer 1 or a DJ 36 next.
Part of me wants a SS Sub date also.

That begs the question: Is the DJ 41 a dress watch, or a sports watch?

My understanding is that it's categorized as a Dress Watch, it's not part of their Professional line.

But, I always think of it as a sport watch.. It just seems to teeter the line for me and with the lack of a leather bracelet it falls under "sport" in my ignorant opinion.

I have 3 sports models but do want an OP39 at some point. So simple and awesome they are.

See, this is why I love my DJs, particularly my DJ41. I do wear my 114060 with suits, though I am more comfortable wearing a DJ with a suit; conversely, my DJ41 feels right at home in jeans, shorts, or a suit.

It's a hobby....that's why you see older watches value go up because collectors want to add in their "collection".
