I wonder if anyone has purchased the SS model and switched the bezel out for the one on the white gold model. You could probably get an aftermarket one.

If the WG had the blue bezel I would have bought it but bought YG one first instead as it had blue bezel. Then the SS came out and bam perfection for me!

No, it's not for me. However, the YM 40 with the Rhodium dial is beautiful in person.
I have a friend who is thinking of buying that one. |

I think it’s the size and the tool. 44mm maxi case is huge and if I really don’t have any use for a regatta timer, why get one?
Personally, I love the look of it. Especially the yellow gold and blue color combo. But the size is too big for my wrist, and I have no use for the function. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Love the SS model, don't like the gold one much at all.
The blue bezel just looks amazing with stainless. I think it's a great watch. If I wanted more than one sports model I would definitely consider one. If you can pull off the size I think it's a great watch |

I have enjoyed sailing for over 50 yrs. I occasionally race in club events. The Gill Regatta Master for $179 is as good as it gets. With the advent of digital multi-function race timers, the automatic "Yachtmaster" became obsolete other than as an attractive watch that pays some homage to a time long past. Like the watch, like the history, but I wouldn't buy one over a Submariner, and I wouldn't ever use one to time the start of a race.

Absolutely...if they put a glide lock on it or if my wrist grows a little more.

It’s complication is so far removed reality, is reason 1 for. 2 is that it just comes across as a Swatch Watch it’s so loud. Dual time zones, time, date, timing? I use those. SD, DJ, GMT are all I need, probably could drop on or two and be just fine.

I don't have a problem with the larger size, in fact I like it. And I don't think it is loud. My problem with the model is that I just don't understand it. I stare at the photo in this thread and can't even figure out what time the watch says it is.

Don't like/need the complication and too expensive for SS. I would rather pay that much for a SS Daytona.

It’s a really fun watch and I like mine a lot
That having been said, I wouldn’t pay the 17k MSRP for it, but given that they can (or at least could) be had for around USD12.5k one has made it into my collection. |

The giant, in your face YACHTMASTER II on the bezel turns me off more than any other particular detail, but on the whole, I find the watch unappealing.

Nah, too big, clunky & flashy for me. I do also like having a date window.

I will say I always take an extra look at this model in the display case. The colours are attractive, (blue bezel a must, it's too bad they put the platinum bezel on wg which lacks contrast compared to the yg and ss versions which are sharp) and I definitely think it's a great summer watch. For me personally, I felt the SD43 pushed the limits in terms of proportions for my wrist. Otherwise, if I had a solid sports collection built up I would add this as a unique piece but likely not the daily option. Good to have variety! |
