Rolex you don’t completely love in your collection?

Last summer I bought my first sub after months of careful planning. I wanted a Rolex that I could wear every day and not worry too much about, and the 114060 has done an excellent job so far. However, I admit I don’t have the same attraction to it like my other 2 Rolexes. It’s not that I don’t like the sub either, I do, but I just don’t “love” it. I can’t quite put a finger on why either. One day I would be satisfied with the watch but the next day I’m thinking about flipping it.

So I’m not quite sure what to do here. If I flip the watch, I’ll probably end up regretting it later. Also, I can’t quite come up with a replacement that I like better around the same price. But if I keep the watch, I’ll be constantly flip flopping between keeping it and selling it.

Have any of you been in this situation before? How long do you give a watch before flipping? Or do you keep it in hopes that your mind will change? Not sure what to do..

Put it away for a couple of months. Don't even look at it.

If after that time you get it back out and didn't miss it, flip it. If you miss it, you can always buy another. I've done this with a 14060 a couple of times, but always come back to it. Lesson learned.

No one maintains a new love feeling for their entire collection. That is a fools folly chasing that feeling. Chronic flippers fall into this category. Use your head and heart to be satisfied with your collection.

My watches all fill niches within my collection. Once they stop doing that, they're gone.

Couldn’t have said it any better.

If you’re constantly on the hunt for the next addition— this hobby will drive you mad.

Only thing I could add - is DON’T allow yourself to get caught up in hype...then — read the last sentence above again...

I agree but at the same time, at the same time, no point of holding on to something that you don't love.

I've loved all of mine but fell out of love with most. I do believe that l finally have my modest collection of five all dialed in.

⬆️⬆️⬆️ Same for me.
I’ve had watches that within 2 days....I just knew the love wasn’t there. Flipped/sold them immediately. My goal/philosophy has always been to try as many as I can...that I know I’m somewhat interested in, see if they fit the niche in my collection, and i love them. I’ve tried most everything, except things I definitely knew I wouldn’t want...Milgauss, Yacht master, etc....(no offense to those owners)
I’ve actually sold or flipped some of the watches that fit the above criteria to fill the...”try as many as I can” void, only to acquire them again down the road, after realizing.... damn!!! Love of the game , doesn’t actually bother me a bit :)
Happy to say, I LOVE the Rolex I have now.
My philosophy....if you’re not in love, move it for something you will
