Platinum DD
Can anyone provide the background regarding why is presidential day date in platinum is not offered with a fluted bezel? My local AD says it'll never happen. Yet to me the fluted bezel is a Rolex icon. Only thing I can think of it distinguishes them from WG DD but that doesn't seem like a strong answer.

i think it is actually just to distinguish the fact that its a platinum model, along w that ice blue dial. otherwise you wouldnt be able to tell it from the WG version.

I think because platinum is hard to work with, a fluted bezel wasn't possible (or at least reasonable to do).

I’ve heard that argument, but wouldn’t the winding crown (which is also made of platinum) also be difficult to manufacture?

Stop it with your logic... This is Rolex we are discussing. Makes sense though if they can cast the crown they would likely be able to cast a fluted bezel in PT also.
