One yellow gold Rolex to choose-which?
I've got a little dilemma.
I'm trying to chose between two watches....I can only pick one. Both yellow gold but one sport one classic. Which would the folks here consider to be the most versatile of the two? dress down casual, jeans and sneakers or suit...can do all with ease? https://www.rolexforums.com/attachme...1&d=1528681692 https://www.rolexforums.com/attachme...1&d=1528681692 |

I own the bottom one and love it. DD is also nice, but not for me personally.

YG Sub for me. If I was going DD I'd prefer Pt, WG, RG, YG in that order of preference.

The DD is a classic but the Sub really hits the spot as the versatile watch which can pull off many roles while the DD is (IMO) somewhat limited to a more dressier role.

116618 is a beauty. Wear it with an Armani suit or a swim suit. Looks good with anything.

So far the majority seems to be for the Sub!
I'm kind of leaning that way too. My only consideration was the fact I already have a SS Skydweller, SS Submariner, SS Daytona and a AP Royal Oak Offshore...all of which are relatively "sporty" watches. I do find the blue dial and bezel with the yellow gold combo to be stunning tho! Was a little concerned that the blue of the dial and bezel may not blend in as well with say an all black suit...at least not as well as all gold with no color accent. I already have the DD 41mm...I'm considering a trade and thinking what would be best considering my existing watch collection. The IWC is on it's way out...probably be replaced by a Hulk Sub https://www.rolexforums.com/attachme...1&d=1528684056 |

I couldn’t make the very same decision.....I now have both
But if forced to pick only one.....my particular lifestyle lends better to the sub. Jeans, polos, never in a suit, very active. The DD can do it all as well, and is spectacular, but my favorite color is blue, and the ceramic bezel is a little more versatile/durable. |

I have both
YG sub wins by a nose because of the micro adjustment on the bracelet If it wasn’t for this the day date would win |

I suggest the Sub. If you are a dress up kind of guy, have an issue with a large watch then the DD might be a better choice.
IMO the YG/Sunburst Blue dial sub is the most flexible watch Rolex makes.

Day Date is a grail for me but not with that dial. I highly recommend watching the HODINKEE “Talking Watches” video with Jack Nicklaus. Really shows you how versatile they can be. I also love he idea of being 50 to 60 plus years old and rocking a gold DD that I’ve been wearing for years.
Sub is also fantastic though. I tried one on in an AD and was blown away. |

The Day Date is *the* gold Rolex to own, IMO. Can’t really go wrong ether way.

if u're going for PM, u can't go wrong w/ DD40......given ur collection goes
for the sub, i would get TT bluesey instead given your choices, i like the color pops w/ steel 'n gold together |

Always wanted a DD in Rose Gold, tried one on yesterday for the first time and WOW, hopefully will be my next watch. Personally I'd go DD but thats just my opinion, both look great especially RollieRolls & Kostas photos above.
DD : more for dress but also casual. Sub : for both dress and casual. |

If the Sub, I would go for the LN. However I always think a GMTIIc is more suited to gold than a Sub.
But DD is the best gold Rolex, with a Daytona second. If I were looking to buy a gold DD I would go for a white dial with romans. |

I would go for the Sub - but then I'm a sports watch lover and I always prefer a sports/tool watch to a dress watch.

If only one I would go DD. If you were to have two the YG Submariner would be the second.
