The Tudor GMT is a very compelling watch

To start, a disclaimer -- I'm a bit biased here, I just picked up a Tudor GMT this week and am still in the honeymoon phase with it. So take the following with a grain of salt

But with that said, given the current shortage of SS Rolex models for the foreseeable future, and the rapidly increasing prices of 5-digit and 4-digit Rolex GMTs, I think there's a strong case to be made for getting a Tudor GMT. And furthermore, I think one could make the argument that the watch stands confidently on its own, even when compared to the Rolex models.

It won't have the history of a 16710, for example, or the bezel and bracelet upgrades of a 126710, but Tudor really nailed this one. The darker blue and red on the bezel are near-perfect choices (on a wonderful aluminum bezel), the matte dial is gorgeous, the chamfers on the lugs look great, and the domed sapphire crystal adds to the vintage feel. This is purely personal preference, but I do enjoy going back to a watch with smaller hours markers and a reduced font on the bezel.

That's not to say it's perfect -- I think it's too thick at 14.6mm (although Tudor was clever with adding chamfers to the underside of the case, which mitigates the thickness to some degree, and it does hug flat to the wrist) and I'm on the fence about the riveted bracelet (would rather not have the rivets). But taking everything into account, this is the most satisfying watch purchase I've made in quite some time.

A quick word on the in-house movement -- so far, and it has only been two days, but mine is running right about +0 secs/day. It loses approximately 1 second during the day, but then gains it back at night when the watch rests dial up.

The Tudor GMT on a bracelet retails for $3950, which in my opinion is a pretty tremendous value.

I got my BLNR Batman last year and love it but if I were in the market now I think Tudor has an incredibly compelling gmt offering.

And while I do love my Batman, I also love the look of the aluminum bezels on older Rolex gmts and suspect I’ll love the Tudor as well when I finally see one in person.

I agree. That’s a very handsome watch. And for the price! Tudor should be on everyone’s short list if your unable to afford or obtain a Rolex sports model

Judging only from photos, seems like there's quite a bit to love about this watch: large crown, some extra thickness, the non-cyclops crystal. It's this latter feature that I really find compelling, and often long for on my 16710.

I wouldn't give up my watch for this one, but Tudor definitely nailed a few features, no doubt!

I am waiting for an opportunity to try the 58 on since my main gripe with the Black Bay series was how large/think they wore. Needless to say, the 58 is on my short list.

IMHO Tudor should be on everyone's short list, regardless of whether you can afford or obtain a Rolex.

I've been very impressed with Tudor and believe they stand up extremely well on there own and not just as a cheaper alternative.

Whew, I find that watch to be better looking than any of the current Rolex professional models...dare I say even compared to the 16710!

For me, the size is still the issue, so it'll be interesting to see if the BB58 becomes the base for more models.

Yes sir. Please excuse the smudges/fingerprints on the watch and the glare from the kitchen lights. I hope this helps.

Also, the rivets are faux rivets, not functional in any way. You can see from the photographs that the links can be added or removed like a traditional Rolex Oyster bracelet.

I guess it depends very much on the size of your wrists.

It is a very well balanced watch. Fits my husband perfectly. It is not too thick, but it is not for everybody.

Well said, I agree with this.

Before seeing it in person and based just on the measurements, I thought it would be too thick. But it actually doesn't wear that way on the wrist and is surprisingly comfortable. I'd recommend seeing it in the flesh before discounting it completely.
