I get that. To me however, I love collecting; celebrating the uniqueness of different watches, their complications, and their aesthetics. For me, I've only ever wanted 1 Rolex and that's the Submariner Date. The Daytona, GMT Master II, Explorer II Polar are all great but it's the Submariner I actually want.

It's a bit cheeky but my perfect collection is:

Rolex Submariner Date - Current 6 Digit reference Stainless Steel
Patek Philippe Aquanaut - White Gold
Apple Watch - Whatever is the current iteration, currently Series 3

Everything a grown boy needs! Although if I got to that stage in my life where I had those 3, I would still secretly covet a vintage GMT Mater II Pepsi (5 Digit) but would try and stay true to my desires. :)

My dream collection would be the two I already have 16233 DJ, 16570 Explorer II Polar, to this I would add a chocolate faced SkyDweller (I would “make do” with a SS SD) and something for fun, perhaps a green dial blue faced Milgauss or even a Bloodhound Air King (this frequently despised watch has become an object of desire for me).

I do love that even though we're all on this wonderful fan forum, we all have such unique and varied dreams and tastes. For my, it's just the Submariner, for you, the Daytona!

My career is just starting, so hopefully I can build up a really nice collection in the future.

Submariner (Debating on the model but it is inevitable that this piece is going in)

Pepsi GMT Master II (5 digit)

James Cameron (Too big for me, a luxury piece in the truest definition). I will own this one day. I love that dial too much. Hope to have it as a fun weekend piece.

Explorer (Modern Reference as my dress watch)

Milgauss GV (Always loved this watch but at the same time know that its uniqueness makes it work best as part of a larger collection. If money is no object, then I'd probably splurge).

Vintage Piece: Explorer II 1655

The I'm filthy rich piece: Submariner 6538 (Connery Bond). I'll never own it but if I somehow hit it big then this would probably be my most expensive purchase.


I could go on and on but these are the pieces that standout for me.

Yeah, I'm somewhat of a minimalist and don't like collecting. I can still celebrate the uniqueness of different watches, their complications, etc., without owning them. Heck, I even own 5 pairs of the exact same pair of jeans that I wear nearly every day.
