Rolex 5508

Hi Guys,

I am looking for some advice , how much would I have to pay to buy a fabulous 5508 , I would say mint condition, Having looked around I am struggling to know what budget I need

I am not looking to sell a 5508 !

wishing to gather information to make a honest and fair offer to buy a lovely example for my own collection

Looking around on watchrecon and chrono24 prices seem to be from the mid $20k to over $40k US depending on configuration and condition.

I know mint / perfect examples were trading at the $50k mark 6 months ago.
You can get ones with "character" for much less.

I would imagine the 5508 more expensive... it seems close to 5512 price but the 5508 is less “commun”. Interesting.

Its a great watch and lots of potential

Really depends on a number of factors. Early 5508’s would have a red triangle insert which alone is 10-20k depending on condition. Add two potential lines so you have a 4-liner and prices also rocket. That said a later 2-line 5508 in mint condition with a glossy and mirrorlike dial with original hands and a good case will easily cost 50k in todays market. With all extras as a 4-line and a red triangle bezel you can probably double or almost even triple that in great condition.

As with everything else an average condition piece is much, much less. Glossy and nice examples will cost a lot of money.

All about era. In the 50’s it had red triangle insert and in the 60’s normal mk2 inserts. 4-liners are very rare in general but could be seen theough-out its lifetime.
