First trackday in the Porsche

Wow what an awesome day and I can't wait for the next one!

I'm at home at the track, but I've never driven a car on the track. It was spectacular to see just a fraction of what my car can do!
Braking was the most eye opening.

I will look to schedule a school at Barber and learn some more.
This event was an open day with groups.

Thank you super husband and thank you Orland Park Porsche for the invite!

Of course, if I had a Daytona, I would have clearly gone a lot faster

Do you have ceramic breaks ?

First time I took my Mustang to the track I burned all my breaks :/
Wasn't experienced enough I guess.

Steel rotors are much cheaper to replace. I reckon a set of Pagid RS29s would improve the braking on track.

It was really awesome and i can't recommend it enough.

Same with the bikes, you'll learn so much more about your car/bike when you can focus on the driving and not on traffic. And without guessing which way the road turns, for those of you fortunate enough to have curves where you live.
Chicago is as flat as it can be.

I had an absolute blast and would like to do this as much as the budget will allow.

For what it's worth, i'm this much slower in a car than on the bike.

Bike, best time 1:08:xx, car, best time 1:15.xx (barely that). That's super slow in my book, but probably not bad for the first time.

The good news is that your car is under warranty. Mine got replaced under warranty for free.
The people at the dealership knew the car was tracked by the way the wheels looked. They were fine replacing the breaks under warranty because "these cars are meant to be driven hard"

:)

Congrats on the track day, stay safe!

Nice!

yeah, we talked about it and before buying, that was one of the questions i had about the brakes, rotors, and fluids.

i once wanted to track my cooper s and a friend told me to rather rent a z car at the track because i wouldn't have to change it all.

the dealer said this car can take it :) they sponsored the event and they invite customers if they are interested.

there were 5 of us on the track. loved that!

now, if some money would just fall from the sky in my hands and i can get a track car.... hahahahaha

i need a new hobby. an inexpensive one.

You look right at home with an awesome car for this! And these brakes are much better for track use than the PCCB’s not to mention MUCH cheaper to replace lol!

Enjoy, it’s why you got this!

You should look into getting a bicycle......wait...nevermind. My last bike was more than a Daytona. Dr. Tom just ordered a new bike that is more than a Daytona. What's wrong with us???? These things don't even have engines!!!!

You guys should all try it, if you have the opportunity!

No i didn't :(
BUT i asked one of the dealership guys for a few laps, so i can see how much more my car can do and those few laps were what i really needed!! Very grateful for that.
All of a sudden, there is no need to use the same brake markers as on the bike
And i don't need to shift nearly as much as on the bike.

There is so much to learn. I really want to do the Barber or Atlanta school.

Nice one.
Next time hire a racing instructor and you’ll be surprised how faster you can drive.
You’ll also learn to drive smoother so brakes and tires won’t be demolished within a day.
