I have the black and have no problem with my mid-40’s eyes reading it.

I've never had trouble reading the time on the white dial, but then I never have trouble reading most non-skeletonized dials, don't really get all the fuss.

I would say make it a true 40 mm or better yet make a Daytona II at 42 mm.

Maybe less text, not just for daytona but for all models. I mean, do we really need to be reminded that the watch is an Oyster Perpetual or that it's Officially Certified and Superlative Chronometer? Does Rolex even make a watch that is not all those? Put all those text on the caseback if Rolex deems them necessary.

ROLEX. COSMOGRAPH. DAYTONA. Imagine how much better the dial would be.

I agree.

Nevertheless it’s an iconic reference and highly sought after, just not for me because of this.

Not really convinced that the Daytona is bought to time events or even tell the time quickly.
There are digital watches for that.
I imagine “Most” buy the Daytona for its excellent resale value, qudos and look.
Has anyone ever polled this?

People denying that the white is far more legible than the black are either being dishonest, or they haven’t looked lately. I own both, the white is far far more legible. The black gets lost 80% of the time.

Comparatively speaking, what percentage of time does the white get lost?

I own a black dial Daytona with steel bezel, and one with white dial and ceramic bezel. I like the looks of the first one much better. I use 2X reading glasses. I find it starkly difficult to read the time on both watches, without glasses. What’s the use of a watch if you can’t tell time with ease. I guess Rolex doesn’t care as long as they sell.

Next year is probably the redo on the Daytona. New movement and a slightly larger case with larger sub-dials. I have found the legibility is best on the dials for PM and worst for the SS. The new Ceramic are a vast improvement on the sub-dials from the previous SS generation.

I would like to see a Daytona offered without the screw down pushers. It is a road race watch, who needs the 100mm WR where the screw down impacts ease of use so much.

Then why did you buy one, let alone two?
