ND Sub C pick up
Had a call from my AD two weeks ago to say they had a 116610LN come in and was I interested?? I was really tempted so I said yes I'll drop in and take a look. I knew that 'taking a look' would have undoubtedly resulted in a purchase but against the backdrop of this was my real 'want' for a 114060. I prefer the simplicity of the dial and having owned a 14060 which was my first ever Rolex, wanted to replace this with the 'modern' version. The 14060 is the only watch I've regretted selling.
Roll forward 24 hours and I get a call from my AD to apologise that the 116610LN was no longer available as a colleague had already called another customer prior to me and they had priority. To be fair I was quite relieved for reason stated above. They were very apologetic and said I would get the first option on the next 116610LN they had in. At this point I took the opportunity to casually say I'd prefer the 114060 to which the AD said due to the inconvenience they would see what they could do. Fast forward one week, I get a call to say they have a 114060 for me and would you like to drop in and take a look. Suffice to say, I'm picking the watch up over the next few days (pictures to follow). As per countless threads before - it really is about the relationship you're able to build with your AD that delivers a positive buying experience. It's a two way street and personally a relationship I've had since I bought my 14060 from the same AD over 20+ years ago.

I have the same problem. Put myself on the waiting list for both in the beginning of May. The AD told me that they had one to two years waiting list. I'm not in a hurry, but find myself changing my mind every other week. Kind of like the iconic date bubble, but at the same time prefer to not have to set the date as well. My current Rolex is a ND Oyster Perpetual, which I love. A sub would mostly be my summer watch. What makes you hesitate between the different models?

No hesitation between the two models as such. I suppose the initial offer of the 116610LN caught me a little off guard and with the well documented supply issues for SS sports models I thought it would be too good an opportunity to pass on. I mean who couldn’t find a home for a 116610LN in their collection??? Anyway the option was taken out of my hands which ultimately did me a big, big favour. For me and I’m a little bit biased having owned and regretted to this day selling my 14060, my first serious watch purchase, the simplicity and balance of ND dial ticks my boxes. I already have a 16600 which provides me with a date function so I’ve got that if I need the date. Plus I prefer a flat crystal which both watches provide. I appreciate some love the cyclops so it’s different strokes, for different folks. As per the default statement when buying a watch, you’ve got to go with what sings to you. And you’ll know when you know.....
