Daytona is king...simple.
You'll always wonder about it. If you have the means, you owe it to yourself to find out whether or not the piece is right for you. Everything else is just noise. |

I think paying almost double RRP is crazy but that's just my opinion. |

Keep your DSSD and buy a pre-owned Daytona 116523. You'll have your tough diver and still have a Daytona that will wear and feel the same. And you'll pay half out of pocket what you would for the grey market 116520.
I think we Rolex collectors are the only ones that fuss over the stainless steel Daytona models. For the regular world, people don't notice watches in the first place - if they did, the typical person would think the 18K/SS model was fancier than the stainless steel one in the first place.

I put myself on a list for a white Daytona. I am content to wait the 4 years, I have other watches to keep me happy ‘til then.

I've regularly seen newer Daytonas than that in Uk for 15.500-16.500 both black and white so the asking of 17.750 GBP is high. However, I do know that WF usually offers higher on trade-ins than others to offset the high sticker price so overall it might not be a bad deal.

I’ve got the same watch from the same year. It’s my favourite watch and the only one I know will always be a keeper . . . . . However I paid £8,250, it’s now £9,250, it’s not a £17,750 watch if I’m being blunt. Unless they give you a significant premium on yours I would walk away. I could see the logic in paying 13k, even 14k as you could wear it for a few years and get your money back. But not at that price. Just my two cents worth.

I think you should do it if that is what you really want but if you shopped round enough you could save a fair bit but the appeal of a quick fix is always hard to ignore if you are willing to spend big.

The 116520 of 2016 is the last of this model, with the lovely superluminova in blue, as usual this means a premium,
I bought one for much cheaper few months ago, look further you will find for around £14k. With only 2 years you will expect them to be in mint condition. Ultimately if money is not an issue and you don’t want to hunt for one, then go for it, it is only money after all, you’ll enjoy wearing it and recover the £££ with time. Let us know what your choice will be. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I misread the original post and thought they were offering a straight swap. I was wondering why everyone was putting you off it!

(And you can get a BNIB AP RO Chronograph with the white panda dial for around £750 more than that Daytona. At that price its a no brainier for me)

I have both and would keep the Deepsea it's an engineering marvel. I rotate my watches every few months and when wearing my Deepsea its just pure magic on my wrist and a indestructible tank.

Joking aside, there's no reason it won't go higher.

So sorry for your loss. My mother passed a couple months ago. You never know how long you have so never worry about buying something you like if it doesn’t put you in a financial bind.
