126710 BLRO Bite the bullet?

Hi All

I was recently in the Canary Islands and to my amazement, they had a new Pepsi and a white dial Daytona in stock. The only catch was they wouldn’t sell me either unless I bought the white gold GMT too (that was in the window). After trying the Pepsi on, its now a must have for me. I appreciate I’ll have to pay over the odds but the current market is almost double the cost

I paid over for my Daytona when they first came out and it seems to have paid off as they’ve continued to climb

The question is, do you think the current grey prices will soften over the next year or remain steady with Pepsi. Everyone who has one seems to rave about it

If you do the math is it more expensive to buy the SS Pepsi at grey market prices or buy the SS Pesi at Retail and WG GMT at retail too and then sell the WG at a loss?

BLRO will definitely come down in prices when the 2019 new hot watch comes out. I wouldn't do it unless you can get 15-20% off the WG.

Assume the price will fall if supply increases. The question is whether or not supply will increase. The BLRO is harder to get than a Daytona right now.

You'll take a $10k hit on the WG BLRO if it's a black dial model, maybe less if it's a blue dial. So, figure you're paying $5k over MSRP if you buy the SS BLRO and Daytona or $10k over MSRP if buying only the SS BLRO.

It's only a great deal if you badly want the watch(es) now and want your name on the card(s) and can afford to overpay. Otherwise, it's not a deal.

126710 BLRO Bite the bullet?

I think it's coming down
Perhaps not super fast but over time it will I think

I see that DavidSW sold the first grey mkt (I think) SS BLRO for $22k however now I see prices in the $18k-$19k

It could go back up or come down more. Who knows?

Buying the PM too wouldn’t be an option

I’m looking at 14k GBP for a Pepsi

Blue Skydweller and Daytona C premiums have remained high. I’m wondering if BLRO will be the same

Wait. In order to get a SS BLRO you have to buy a wg BLRO?

Can you get a WG sub instead? Or another PM model?

I’d not buy two BLROs. That makes little sense. But I’d get another PM model in a hurry if it got me the SS version.

Similar story in the UK. They started at about 17k now 14k. I guess we’ll see where they settle

If you could get the WG BLRO at a sensible discount, I’d buy both, sell the SS for a decent profit and be left with what would now be a very cheap WG BLRO

It all come down to what you have to pay for the PM model.

Personally I wouldn’t buy into a package deal if the other reference they are offering didn’t already interest me.

it makes no sense. I get the concept of bundling but this is just uninspired and lazy

I wouldn’t go with the bundling option. I’d only be lumbered with something I don’t want that I’d have to mess around trying to sell

I guess what I’m trying to ask is do I pay the current premium of circa 14k or wait and see if they come down much more. Will they remain is such ‘short supply’? I don’t really have a relationship with an AD so RRP isn’t an option :(

Time will only tell of it comes down. For sure it’ll come down some.

But if history is any indicator, this model will likely always be in high demand. And it will likely always command a premium.

Can you save a few bucks if you buy in a year? Maybe. Maybe not.

If it’s me, and I can reasonably afford to do this. I’m doing it. Definitely. No questions asked.

I got mine from my AD. But I’d have paid a premium if I needed to.

I personally think it’s an absolutely stunning watch. You only live once.

See if they’ll let you get all three. Big hit up front but if you can unload the unwanted two should easily make up for the wg blro hit.

Does it have to be that specific mix of watches? Haggle with the AD. Not necessarily over the price, but over the watches in the bundle. That is, if you have the resources to do so. What else does the AD have that you might be interested in?

buy vintage. paying more for a SS PepsiC than a 1675 or 16750 is insanity.

buy all 3 then sell the gold and Daytona (since you have it) and you’ll probably come out even better

IMO the 126710 BLRO appears to be coming through thick and fast (in the UK, no idea about ROW). Even smaller ADs in the UK have seen 4 or 5 of them in some cases.

Personally I wouldn’t pay over the odds for a watch, and I wouldn’t bundle on someone else’s terms either.

That said, I have a partner who loves getting shiny new watches - if yours does too, maybe see if they’ll let you take a TT Datejust or something (obviously a model she wants, not just any old model).

Or, play the waiting game here in the UK. Personally this would be my second option after bundling on my own terms (if I could justify doing so). If we crash out of Europe with no deal next March, today’s grey prices might appear “cheap” anyway.

I wouldn't bundle a SS with a PM, quite frankly I'd rather pay a grey and reward them rather than an AD like this. Many people here say if you buy from a grey you are keeping the market as it is, but when ADs behave like that they are doing just as much of a job keeping it going.
