Happy birthday! That’s an awesome mod and suits the YM2 very well IMO.

Just a guess, but Oct. 2016 was right when the new Ceramic Daytona came out ... getting their hands on 50 of them might not have been an option.

Also, the YMII is a chrono.
Actually this was the original design with a daytona but they decided to go with the Yachtmaster 2 because the daytona they had made didnt pop like they wanted. Here is a pic of the design.

Can this modded watch be factory serviced by Rolex or will they have to make it stock again?

Now that’s a watch with sentimental value. Happy birthday and enjoy the watch. Cool mod. Keep driving vettes and it’s perfect. Folks at cars and coffee will be green with envy.

Every once in awhile I do haha my steering wheel is suede so the oils from our hands destroy the suede so I just wear them to protect it.

Just giving you a hard time! My Porsche has a suede (Alcantara) steering wheel also. Mine is black so I don’t notice any color changes.

Very cool! Really surprised they would give away YMIIs rather something more common like subs or DJIIs. Not everyone can pull off the YMII. That’s good for you though bc I love the YMII!

Yeah it was its beautiful i love the touches nothing too crazy just enough. Here is a pic of the 1st rolex Chevrolet commissioned Rolex to do which they did back in 1986 a Datejust and Vice President George H.W. Bush handed them out to the dealers. Some of the sons were there at the trip in 2016. Its pretty awesome when you hear that. From what I heard this was the first time Rolex customized a rolex in house for a company. Please correct me if I am wrong but some pretty cool history.

Cool. Had to zoom in to see the links. Very subtle (for a YM II).

Nice.

You need sailing gloves for that watch though, but the again you changed the bezel so im confused with the appropriate gloves to wear
