The watches will go directly to gray dealers so we can buy them for MSRP and stickers will not be required to be removed any longer. Oh, and each watch will come with piece of swiss chocolate

Thanks for the heads-up Gerardo.
You are one of the few here who I believe has credibility in these matters ;-)

I am now very intrigued what will be unveiled...

Thanks for the interesting information.

1. How does you meeting with an unusual number of brands correlate to something big happening with Rolex?

2. What "strategy" are you referring to? Are you just referring to the fact that there are few SS professional models?

3. Called to a meeting at what corporate?

They will now cut short supply of all platinum models as well, and profits will skyrocket even higher on TT models!

I bet its something big alright! It’s a BIG FAT BONUS for all the Top execs at Rolex, thats the ONLY big thing coming. They managed again to trick all the suckers into models being discontinued so they can sell watches that have been starting to rust in the warehouse (oh thats the Hulk I’m referring to). As far as the BIG bonuses, I suppose they deserve them! Something big? LMAO!!!!

As always, plenty of speculation but as always, there will be no definitive answers.

This has always been, and will always be, the case.

Interesting....

Until we hear not much is changing to help consumers.

Sorry for the pessimistic attitude.

Reduce the number of AD by 50%, only 1 AD allows in the area per 200K population.

In what way? In the manufacturing of them? Difficulty selling them (!)? People returning them as faulty?

This morning, something very interesting in the 'big crown' market. After having coffee with a top AD, some comments during the conversation were striking:

- They are having a very hard time with the SS sports models; batmans and hulks are precious prizes replacing daytonas. SS Pepsi: Don't even mention it (ok, no news here)

- Because of this new strategy, general sales for AD's in the country has....INCREASED in double digits. No, they can not sell over retail per Rolex policy; yet, overall sales are UP.

- ALL AD's have been called to a meeting next week @ corporate. Word on the street is that something big is in the green kitchen. But as always, only they know.

...just sharing with my virtual family.

Back to follow up e-mails......

I hope it’s good news for WISs for once..

FWIW Rolex over retail policy does not work here, I think it’s more of consumer rights in the UK and US, in the Middle East, Rolex has no interest in controlling AD prices, in fact ADs price their new pieces at the market price, regardless of how ridiculously high it is.

Maybe prices but with something else. Usually price increases are informed via letters, not asking all ADs for a meeting. We will see....

When called in for a meeting can only mean one thing.

They've been on "undercover boss".

Kiss DJ and two tone goodbye. Rolex will instead concentrate on steel sports, especially the most wanted models such as Hulks and Daytonas. So, if you are hoarding these watches, guess what? Sell them before the market is flooded.

After Brexit made watches dirt cheap globally in the UK there was a mad rush for SS Rolexes, so we knew right then that there was all this pent up demand just waiting for an opportunity, and 2 years on nothing has changed as the global economy has prospered. So I'm not surprised Rolex have enjoyed high revenue and profits, they could have made a lot more with more aggressive and dynamic price policies but that's not really their ethos, which is far more conservative.

Fixed it for you. There are a lot of small towns with ADs that have been in business for decades. It seems the large urban areas are where the ADs struggle.

Gerardo - When is the next update?

There IS something big to expect but I believe it is more to do with distribution & price than product.

On Monday I met with the owners of an AD - and they have dropped Omega. In the discussion it turns out they are like other ADs - vulnerable to Rolex distribution “gating”.

We didn’t cover any points about an upcoming meeting - but that could be market specific. Rolex USA has not set one of those as far back as I can recall.
