Sometimes I like to just reminisce on what certain references mean to me...

The Omega Seamaster...
This was the automatic watch I obsessed over. It was probably the one that started it all... As University closed to an end I used to dream on that first paycheck so that I could treat myself to the watch good enough for 007

Thereafter I wore it for 10 years, thinking of no other. Plenty of fond memories... Holidays - underwater dives, career changes, relationships and of course eventually loosing it

This one, reacquired from the same year, has often bought back smiles and a feel of familiarity. An excellent work and travel watch. Safe in the knowledge it's not a head turner and a few scratches just won't matter.


The Rolex Submariner
Well this was the watch that tore me from Omega. It was like the Seamasters more suave cousin. And the infatuation grew, but the procurement was not easy - even then, because it was a little pricey.

In all its guises - many I've tried - this particular one seems like a sweet spot to me. It's got the maxi dial I love, but with the original case proportions that I prefer. It's functional and sauna proof, trustworthy and hardworking in a way that originally attracted to me to the brand, not like the more vintage maxi options. And finally here with its £15 aftermarket green bezel, the original is safe.


The Rolex GMT
Well, in a pilot... How could I not? This particular one, at the same time appealing because it ticks my vintage box.

From a simpler era perhaps, where bling wasn't a thing. No white gold surrounds, no ceramic, plexiglass and Matt... Nice clean rehaut too, but I do like to have the quick set date though

As the watch I wear flying, its waterproofing just is not an issue to me. It's hardly the massive feature to the model that it is for a sub anyway.

The fact it's had a full life and done the miles is written all over that pepsi insert, and I love it more for its obvious unmasked experience


The Rolex Daytona
Needs no justification... Possibly the last to my own natural appreciation. Though I can see the reason for it's reputation.

All things considered I wish I still had the zenith - that I loved. This I just bought to replace and appease what had gone before that I now missed- and because - well I was lucky to be offered... Ultimately it was also another "wearer" with a 5 year guarantee that didn't and hasn't needed babying.


The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak
My grail piece...
The watch I wanted the most and for the longest. I loved the lines, the heritage, the art and the back story of it. Probably the hardest watch for me to have actually ever purchased.

I once bought a 15400 because I couldn't get one of these, but it just wasn't the same

I did a similar path (with a few Omegas and Rolex in the middle)

Started with a Seamaster due to my Bond obsession (my one and only watch lol) and many years later my blue watch is now a PP 5711

Im getting worried as APs starting to intrigue me (Had Omegas, Rolex, PAM and PPs but never had a AP)
