Does anyone know this 6239 Daytona?
Hello everyone,
I have inherited this beautiful watch from my father and I am trying to figure out which model I do exactly have. I do not intend to sell the watch, I am just curious. Maybe someone has an idea which model I have? From my research I believe to have a second series 6239 Daytona from 1964. They nicknamed the watch 'The priest'. But when I look at the other 'priest' Daytona's I see that the Rolex logo and the Cosmograph writing underneath are both in white colour. On my watch the Cosmograph writing has a grey/silver colour. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you, Dylan |

The Priest thing is just something Pucci Papaleo named black dialed Daytonas with a steel bezel in his book Ultimate Daytona. If you check the book you will find 6239’s and 6265’s with that name. Phillips used it for a 6239 in their theme sale but it is really not a name anyone ever used outside that sale and the mentioned book.
Your watch look like a nice and early 6239. Your guess for 1964 is not a bad one. Enjoy your watch!

Thank you for your message. Any ideas about the grey cosmograph logo?

Hi Dylan,
That is a very beautiful watch you got there. You're so lucky to get such amazing piece! As you've mentioned above the Priest is a small batch that has both print Rolex & Cosmograph in White, similar to a Mk1 Double Swiss (or with Underline) version, but with T SWISS T instead off Swiss only Your piece is a more common version with white Rolex print and silver Cosmograph print. Ive owned a similar one like yours. Congrats on such a great piece!
