Rolex Submariner 1680 1970 Bezel Insert Question

Hi guys,

I have a Rolex Submariner 1680 1970 with a bezel that appears to be artificially aged. I am just not sure. What do you think? I am already shopping around for a genuine one as I am just not sure about this one.

A very poor job at aging! Yes, it's been chemically altered.

i think the dead giveaway is the underneath of the insert has 'faded' also.

Luckily I factored this into my negotiation, just wanted to make sure before I place this where it belongs.

Cheers Springer :-)

I have been told this actually may be a genuine rolex part by an ex rolex employee.

It is a chemically faded service insert. It is not from 1970.

It may be a 100usd service insert that someone ruined.
