Reference number help
Hey everybody, I'm wondering if anyone knows the reference number for my vintage datejust. I can't find any images of any that have this combination of characteristics (dauphine hands, all incides are identical, black date numerals, not a sunburst dial, the Rolex logo is applied in gold). My grandfather bought the watch in Japan in either 1956 or 1958. Thanks for any help!

The dial has been repainted at some point in its life, a really bad job at that. Take a paperclip and pop off the bracelet. Between the lugs will be the model number at one end and the serial number at the other.
From the style of the hands and applied logo on the dial, it should date to the mid 50s. The bracelet is from much later, probably picked up during a later service.
