I was 18 months old when I got my first Rolex, the Newman Daytona. I wore it for years - through pre-school, kindergarten, and most of elementary school until I mid way through the fifth grade when I traded it for a Six Million Dollar Man watch and a Commodore Vic 20.

Interesting, lots of young people own Rolexes. I bought my first and only Rolex last year at age 68. Never really had an interest before then. However, now I have the bug. I read a very interesting report published in England that said most Rolex owners are men in their late 60’s. I think that so many young people are now buying them shows how well the economy is doing (almost a 10 year bull) and that people can afford luxury. It also shows that Rolex has a new generation of enthusiasts who will be around for quite some time and this will assure a steady market for their watches. Isn’t life great?

I got my first one age around 33 in 1985. (Got my first Navitimer, brand new when I was 17, cost a huge £69!)
I was in London and had been pressing my nose against the window of all the Rolex stockists, the actual Rolex shop on New Bond Street sticks in my mind, and I ended up buying a bi metal Datejust with plastic ‘glass’ from W2 Jewellers on Edgware Rd.

They are still there.

I was late in to the hobby. I owned a seamaster since college but upgraded to a daytonac when I was 42 three years ago. Since then, I added the sub date and the blnr and am looking to add another piece this year.

I was 30 and just purchased my business. I went for the Batman because I saw David Lee wearing one on Jay Lenos garage. I figured if it was good enough for him it must be a good watch.
