What's up with the minute/hour hands of this platoon?

Just spotted this one. What's the deal here?
Minute and hours hands are wrong for a platona...

Good question. Earlier ones had that style of hands but I've never seen them without lume. That's new to me.

Here's one with earlier hands:

Current hands:

You're right... the baguette dial does get the striped center hands.

Well, I have no idea in this case. The lack of lume is odd for sure. I've never seen that myself.

I searched around ebay and bob's watches, and even the ones going back to the early 70's have lumed hands. Some hands are not "hollowed out" but hands like the ones in the link were not seen.

Were the hands perhaps painted over for some reason?

For what it is worth.

Strange, a store like Govberg shouldn't let this happen

May have had it serviced at RSC. I sent my WG Panda in for a service, mentioned a few scratches on the minute hand and if not in spec, please replace.

RSC replaced the complete handset for the Daytona, and the hour/minute hands were like the video. Lume free. It’s hard to read at night, but doesn’t bother me otherwise as I know this must be Rolex approved.

If the hour plots have lume, it only makes sense for the hands to have lume also. Oherwise, reading the time in the dark is a no go. Doesn't make any sense to me.

UPDATE.

I was just reading an article on the Gibeon Meteorite that they used to make the dial of the Meteorite Daytona.

The Daytona shown in the article has the same hands as the OP's video shows.

PM me for more info if desired.

Thats why we have to be mighty care prior to calling "fake", especially on older models, where ROLEX did some strange things

It's a GREAT Idea to get educated about these things from outside sources in addition to here on TRF.

Better safe than to look bad.

Can't catch them all anyway.
