how about you guys?

Completely get where you’re coming from. I always consider the audience when deciding which watch to wear. I would never wear a Rolex for a first meeting with a new client.

In the UK, there are times when a Rolex can be viewed negatively and I’m not prepared to risk not getting some work because of a watch! It’s the same reason I wouldn’t wear a short sleeved shirt showing off my tattoos with a new client. I tend to wear my Speedy or Reverso as nobody will view these negatively, but if they are a WIS then it may spark conversation.

I understand that many people don’t care what others think, but I need to work and that is my priority.

My boss wears a fossil, brags about paying $10 for it because he had a senior citizen coupon at the fossil outlet. I say f-it, wear mine proudly. At the end of the day he has more money than me anyway, he just chooses to spend it elsewhere... Or not at all because that's what his generation does.

This thread is a blast from the past!

Of eight branch heads, one other and I wear a Sub. A third has a large auto limited edition racing Baume and Mercier on a strap, but has his eyes on a Milgauss (he loves the symmetry and the little bit of flair). I do all I can to foment that desire. :-) A boss one level above me has a Tag Link. A boss from last year a half level above me had a Polar Explorer II. Another branch head had a quartz Seamaster on a bracelet and an automatic Planet Ocean on a strap. He favored the quartz and rarely wore the PO to work. I complimented the PO when he wore it.

Not daily, but I switch between an Omega SMP and Explorer II black dial. I'm the only one in my department who wears a "real" watch but even still I don't think anybody even notices what I have on my wrist. Everyone else wears no watch or the Apple watch.

........ I wanted to wait for post #1000.

I don't wear my Rolex to work. I'm in sales, and although it seems acceptable - nay, encouraged - for people to buy $90K pickup trucks, they would scoff at the sight of a watch bought for more than a hundred dollars. What a waste of money!

So to keep the peace, I wear Rolex et al strictly in my downtime. And seeing as they're mostly for me - it's fitting somewhat.

And for the naive people who think people don't notice - I think people notice now more than ever before. Rolex marketing hasn't slowed down and there is more of it and more people gobbling it up (the marketing and the marketed product) everyday.

Like many things in life, discretion is absolutely key.

I always wear my Rolex to work and it kicks the ass of anything my boss wears. Do I care? No, I don't give an f, I wear my Rolex for my reasons and it has nothing to do with my boss.

I do, nobody has ever made a comment.

Not sure if they don’t know it’s a Rolex, don’t care it’s a Rolex, or are just uncomfortable bringing it up.

Ha! You're in Ontario, Canada....

$90k pickup trucks, do you sell each and every one of them in the city of Toronto, cause we seem to certainly have herds of them racing and rampaging through the city....best thing that happened to sports car drivers here, now everyone hates them instead.

Try and tell someone that your watch has actually appreciated in value compared to their 2016 Denali whatever and they're like - "Yeah, but you can't drive a watch!!1!!!1one!"

Further up north (passed Toronto if you can imagine!), to put into perspective how many pickups are here, it's about the same number of BMW 3-series down your way. Staggering, really.

Really, used to be, but now I wonder, think the BMW and Mercs are outnumbered by the plethora of these exhaust enhanced, never had anything larger than a case of beer in the bed, roaming the city at top speed and driving like they're two seaters.

Used to be, "What's the difference between a Porcupine and a BMW? With a BMW, the pricks are on the inside!!" LOL

Now, many wish there was a bounty of pickup trucks in the city...

I wear my 1675 almost everyday and I’m in sales. No one notices your watch. The average person thinks Rolex are made of gold and covered in diamonds.

I hope the boss wears Dockers shoes. That way at least you can wear something decent despite being Sub-less.

Absolutely! You bought the watch to wear and enjoy, so wear it and enjoy it.

This is so true in my experience.

I'm work in IT at a Big Pharma. The rare times I heard people talk about Rolex (at work and even among non-WIS friends) they think 2-tone or solid gold DJs and DDs w/o even knowing those 2 models. They also think D-Bags and the very rich wear Rolex. They are idiots.

For work, I rotate between the 16710 Pepsi, 16610 LN and 116710 BLNR. When I owned a SS Jubilee Rhodium dial DJ and wore it at the office for a week, it looked too blingy (and that says a-lot coming from someone who mostly wears a GMT Pepsi (aka the perfect watch for July 4).

The same people who comment on your Rolex saying your rich, spends the same amount of money on things you cannot see. Your money is on your wrist, theirs is elsewhere.

Next time someone comments, ask them where they spend their money LOL

You might get an answer like, “feeding my kids,” or “paying the rent.”

I wear mine to work everyday since I work remote..lol

On a business meeting I do not wear a Rolex. I had an Omega and my bosses boss did as well. The main boss saw my watch and commented. We talked briefly about watches and my boss got jealous. He said look at my fit bit. My boss asked what model I had days later so he could look up the price. After that I decided not to wear a nice watch to a business meeting. Not worth having your boss be jealous even though it's his insecurity.

Worn 24/7 - one co-worker has a vintage DJ he inherited from his father and loves to chat about Rolex's all the time, one co-worker scowls at my watch all the time - it's a mixed bag.

If you have a pleasant personality, are well liked, and treat everyone with dignity and respect, then it doesn't matter what kind of watch you wear.

If you choose to leave your Rolex at home because you don't want to offend anyone, it's still possible for you to be an arrogant, pompous ass that nobody likes.
