Hitting the links

66F degrees, rare for my area of the country this time of year. We kept the flag in for 9 holes. Not sure if it speeded up play or not. First time I took my Sub to play golf. Not sure if I will do it again. Phil plays with his Rolex (not a Sub) on. But, then again...

do you play with your watch on? And if so, how do you do it? I always found it a bit restricting.

This is the first time with my Sub. And a little too bit flashy. I agree too restricting. I will occasionally wear a iWatch for the GPS.

Nice, Rolex can take it just fine.

Hitting the links

If you believe golf can harm a Rolex, at least the Sub has fewer cogs/functions to jam - having no complications.

I believe all the Oyster Professional models would fare just fine even “chopping wood”.

Rolex and golf make a nice combination, but I would personally not dare to play with my watch. I'd keep it for the 19th hole.

I am a 6 handicap and I take my Rolex off as soon as I hit the first Tee, if putting or chipping at the practice area I leave it on don't want to leave it in my bag unattended even though most of the courses I play the Golfers seem pretty honest at least when they find a club or golf items left on a hole, I don't know how honest they are about their scores!

Your watch is designed for diving not a high impact/ velocity activity such as golf. I would save it for the 19th hole. Its what Jack Nicklaus did.

An iWatch is definitely easier to manage on the course. I would not mind getting an RM on my wrist for a round. I know those are more purpose built but I would love to feel if it is even doable.

66 is pretty warm for that part of the country! I remember when I was stationed at Ft Campbell the the winters were... quite harsh and icy.

I used to play on base there, they have a decent course (as most military bases do), but I would get down and play Hermitage, outside Nashville, whenever I could.

I thought this was going to be about going after polished center links with a scotch brite pad.

It's not golf season in Michigan but I can still get in on this with my Explorer and Ben. Don't worry, it's a mirror, he didn't go lefty.

For me, it depends if I am playing with a glove or not. If I'm not playing with a glove, and not wearing something large (like a SD43 or SDDS), I generally play with it on. From their start, Rolex has become famous for the extreme conditions in which they have performed. I am sure if the older models could handle summiting Everest, the modern ones can handle a leisurely day of golf.

One of the reasons why I like Rolex that much, otherwise would have long gone to some beautiful decorated watches with delicate movements.

God I hate that little white ball and all that goes with it.

Before anyone says "that's because you can't play", they are wrong. I have a smooth and reasonably powerful swing. And my putts are fine.

What I hate are the archetypes! As a kid I worked at a club, people just s*ck.

My advice...don't be that guy and I hope you hit'em straight.

People say that about Rolex owners too...neither is a fair characterization for the vast majority of the group.
