With all deference to those with the DJII, I just think the 41 has much better proportions. It looks more elegant to me. Get the 41

This watch was not on my radar. I was in an AD a few years ago looking at my usual suspects and I spotted it and was like- what in holy hell is that?!

The blue dial catches the light and swirls just like the green fire of my Hulk. Tried it on and knew I had to have it. Pulled the trigger when I learned it was being discontinued.
+1, the DJ2 is very keenly sought after by collectors now. Will become a modern classic.

Ok, so while I dig the azuro blue dial DJ2 enough to say it twice, this is an unintended double post.

For the Datejust model, I would recommend that you err on the side of small, ie. 36mm > 41mm > DJII. It's good to see a little bit of the bracelet sitting on top of your wrist, and not just the dial & bezel. That's my preference.

<---- If you look at my avatar, that's the 42mm Explorer II on my 6.5" wrist. The entire top of my wrist is taken by the dial & bezel. That's ok with the sports reference, but if I were to get a DJ, I would get DJ41 or DJ36.

Definitely partial to the DJ2. Larger proportions and sportier.

Not a fan of the fatter indices on the the II. 41 is the way to go. Better movement and as everyone has said, better proportions. That being said, I'm a 36 mm guy myself (just to mess you up lol).

The definition of Datejust is ...
36mm + fluted bezel + jubilee = DATEJUST

Datejust 41

I have the 41, love the new movement, 70 hour reserve. The jubilee bracelet is a work of art.

if you are truly agnostic, go with the newer movement.

Easy, DJ2. Not making any more of them and it's bigger which gives it more wrist presence. The fluted bezel is also larger. Bigger = Better

I wholeheartedly agree. You are on the money with your comparison of the aesthetics of two different watches.

Both are amazing, but I think some of the folks touting the 41 have not seen this dial in person. Stunning is the word the I hear over and over when people see for the first time.

I like big watches but in this case I prefer the 41. Suits the style better IMHO.

They are all great watches but it really depends on your wrist size. I have a 6.25 inch wrist and the DJ36 fits me best. If you have a larger wrist I would go with the 41 as I prefer the dimensions of that watch but there is nothing wrong at all with the DJ2, especially if you like a sportier look or are looking for a 1 watch solution. For me I have several other Tudor and Rolex watches for sporty events so I wanted a more traditional dress watch in the 36mm fluted on jubilee. My advice is to try them on before making a decision.

Much prefer the proportions of the DJ41, especially if you are going with the dressier fluted bezel option. Don't settle just based on price.

41

Welcome to the forum.
Having owned several of each, the 41 is the better overall watch for many reasons stated already.

I do like the extra size but also the way the new case is designed. This was the perfect Rolex... till I fell in love with my SkyDweller.

My vote is 41. Good luck!

DJII for me looked more sporty, i didn’t care about the new movement. It just has a bam effect.
