Different "True explanation" of Zaratsu polishing
Interesting GS article in latest issue of QP. According to the article the term Zaratsu is just the phonetic adaptation of the first manual polishing machines imported by Seiko which were made by a German brand called Sallatz. Nothing to do with Japanese metalwork or samurai sword making!
Just thought I'd share with everyone. |

As much as I love the level of finish and polish especially on the hands and index markers.....I have always known the zaratsu bit to be marketing from Seiko being in Japan. Not surprised by this.

Nonsense. It takes 40 years of training to become a Zaratsu polisher and you have to trace your blood line back 100% to the original Ninja cartel. There are only five Zaratsus left and they all work in Morioka and Shiojiri. If you don’t believe me just hold a GS up to the light.

It doesn't change that they are finished to a degree not found on any other watch in its price range.

Totally agree. I’ve no idea how much how much you’d have to spend to get a finished watch. If it’s even possible? Except Credor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
