Flip or Forever?

I would like to know if any of you have plans to sell your Panerai(s) in near future for any reason? If so then why?

For me, it's lifetime ownership. Not going to flip mine whatsoever, which is my intended plan.

I have never bought them in deluded hopes to make a profit in near future. I bought them to be worn and to be enjoyed.

As would I. It would have to be something pretty major to cause me to part with either one. Heck, I'm thinking about the next one.

I'm not planning on flipping EVER. But you know what they saw, never say never.

My sub and gmt iic are similar so rather than flip. I got a green bezel for my sub.

Now, I'm thinking about Pt/YM hands and getting ahold of a maxi somewhere...

My tastes change over time so selling is always an option. I learned, for me at least, that as new desires spring up something has to generally be moved to make room.

I try to follow the old "one in, one out" rule. That way I have to be fairly resolute in my decision to acquire something new knowing something already in the stable will need to leave.

Gets tough when you think your collection is dialed in and then the latest and greatest is released at SIHH or Basel.

Speaking of which, SIHH has been moved up to January next year. It will be interesting to see Richemont's moves in this economic climate.

Forever is a long time.

It all depends on many factors ....

Whats availale at what price ?
Local currency vs the euro exchange rate.
SE available at the time.
Used Panerai at the right price.
What the ones are worth, that you already own?

Now and 2009 will prove to be a buyers market. Now is not the time to sell your 232/249/127/203 and 21 !!!

Happy buying in 2009 !!

At the moment I dont see myself selling any of my PAMs.

Well I do not own a Panerai yet BUT hope to own a couple in the future...

I can't sell....

I wish I could, if so I would have a Panerai right now but I buy things I love and hold them.

Perhaps things may change someday when I really want to make a big leap and get an PP Complication or something but till I am looking at watches over 30G I do not see that happening.

I am keeping my options opened. With your collection growing, you tend to see which one is a keeper and which one you can let go.

PAM 88 was my first PAM, then came along 000, then 111, then 249.. and so on.
Several months back, I found that it was the time to let 88 go because I have my Rolex GMT IIc that serves me well with GMT and date function.

I guess that's how it goes... but I agree that there are several pieces that are a keeper.

I can't own them all at once, so I am trying to own them all one at a time.

It depends really. If I can flip it and make some profit, why not??? I can either upgrade to a better Panerai or other brand, OR....I can buy back the same watch with some cash in the pocket! I am seriously! Opportunity does strike. It is a matter of being the right place at the right time.

JMO.

PS: I thought you traded or sold your 112 for a 000 or 005 right? Hmmm?

I can't afford anymore flipping, I'm just glad I landed on a Panerai before going broke. :)

I'd never sell mine to fund another watch. I only buy watches i intend to keep. I would of course sell if i needed to put food on the table or a roof over my head!
