My unsolicited personal thought on this: when a market reaches a bubble-like level, as I believe we are currently in with vintage Rolex, buyers become less discriminating -and sellers are quick to accommodate them-. Five years ago this same watch would have been offered at a fraction of the price the OP paid, and it probably would not have had its case recut to make it look more appealing.

Hard to get a feeling of that dial. Here’s a very glossy 6542 dial I had many years ago where the lacquer cracked. Still very beautiful.



On-topic: The dial on the 1675 in this thread scares me. Just doesn’t look right. Perhaps just the lume which is so small within the gilt circles. Not sure.. Would carefully examine this dial if I were offered it. Not in love with it at all from these pics.

Yes, there's a lesson here with the inherent danger of feeling a false sense of security, generated by merely bunching numerous dealers and characters together under a banner on a website... I wonder how they're really vetted, and I suspect when you raised the issue, you were told to deal directly with the seller. So the "passion market" is really just an illusion.

I think a very good PCG can cost 45K - 50K USD. But then I would expect a perfect dial, non recut case, Swiss rivet bracelet and cool insert...
