Just got myself a UV lamp (actually designed for nails).

It’s automatic so you just need to keep it by the bed and pop your wrist under for a few seconds when you need the time at night. Works pretty well. No more fumbling around for the G-Shock.

They have this magic thing that shows the time all night long for much less than wearing a Rolex + buying a UV light to irradiate your wrist...

...and all you need to do is look up at the ceiling...

By that logic I’d only ever wear a g-Shock.

I wouldn’t make a frequent habit of this. UV radiation fades dials, bezel inserts and degrades plastic (glass gasket). Even if it’s just getting short blasts the cumulative effect may not be favourable.

The lume looks cool though. And you’ll have a nice hand tan.

Nope - wearing a Rolex while you’re awake is quite normal, don’t you think?

If you see the logic in wearing one in bed at night + buying a UV light to irradiate it to see the time...well, it’s not logical for 99% of us...

But I respect your right to do so, and applaud your courage to post it, too.

I’ve used one for years - quite useful.

No straining or raising up at night just to check the time.

I just use nightstand mode on my Apple Watch when it’s on the charge. I just lightly tap the nightstand and it displays the time. I’ll pass on the UV lamp...

Unlikely since black light is a different wavelength UV and won’t tan skin.

As I said earlier the wavelength of UV lights used for curing light activated resins, glues and checking banknotes and watch lume isn’t cancerous! It’s not same as UV tanning lights or the overall UV in sunlight.

I like it! Although Bedside RealEstate is scarce, and that thing is pretty big.

I have found if you pull the covers over you and your Rolex, mine is the 6 Digit Suib, you can see the time all night.

Save for the larger lumed Dials...

It does work pretty well but I concede it is a bit of a sledgehammer.

I have a severe sight impediment that means I probably see things a bit differently to most so yeah it might seem a bit odd.

I didn’t fancy a torch as regular light would probably keep me up for a bit.

My preference was to read the time off the wrist off the current watch in rotation but the factory lume just doesn’t do it for me under regular conditions.

I’ll probably keep this for checking out the lume on new watches and look into the ceiling projector as recommended above.

While I said it as a tongue in cheek remark, a quick google search reveals that nail lamps do in fact emit light of a wavelength that will tan skin
