Lol. Never. I mean the sooner people realize these “smart” watches are really tech industry duping them into becoming addicted and more attached to their devices the better (yes there is an increasing amount of data on this) Some will always go for the disposable, next gadget to be charged, but not so for many.
The smart watch will never be as functional as a phone due in large part to the size. And I can see the smart watches being a gateway for folks who may wear the so called smart watch during the week, but keep a nicer piece for weekend use. |

Short answer, no.
More and more people are wearing a Fitbit or whatnot on one wrist and a watch on the other.

Traditional mechanical and quartz watches have been obsolete for some time with every one carrying a cell phone which gives the precise time and date. Perhaps redundant is the better term. The watch now is a fashion and jewelry statement.

LVH? Afib maybe, unless the smart watch/ fit bit has an ice I doubt it would give as definitive a diagnostic result as an angiogram, echo or CTA. I wouldn’t say don’t wear them. They can be useful for people who need the functionality. Although I will agree that if you don’t, why wear it just to keep up with the times AOW |

I have a smartwatch but I rarely wear it. The novelty wore off rapidly.

With the exception of my phone I am not a fan of other digital devices, especially devices that collect your health data via wearables. I feel that this is another minable resource and people are paying companies to place that mining equipment on their bodies and unknowingly give their data away. You know damn well this data is getting sold and analyzed to most likely screw people over in the future.
These devices also provide more opportunities to facilitate digital addiction. |

My take on this interesting topic is that, at one point back in the late 80s and early 90s, I was worried that the general population would cease to wear any form of timepiece on their left or right wrist. It wasn’t clear, through the emergence of initial Portable PDAs and the first mobile phones, all if which had precise time telling abilities by default, if the wrist worn time piece would go the same way the pocket watch did. Therefore, I believe that, because smart watches still reside on the wrist, they may actually have helped the watch industry, in so much as wearing a wrist located timepiece could have become a thing of the past very easily during the above mentioned juncture a few decades ago. Necessarily, the fact that new generations still use wrist positioned timepieces, means that those generations will finally still aspire to “other” more exclusive wrist worn timepieces, as such the habit continues and the sale of wrist worn timepieces perpetuates.

Sure, like any poorly made piece of junk the SMART Watch will need to be replaced and replaced and replaced while the ROLEX will keep on ticking---decade after decade. Just get a broken smart watch and put it on your wrist to please the herd and their fashions and put a ROLEX on the other wrist for yourself...or just forget the Smart Watch altogether.

And if you are stuck outside of reception or it is brought down you loose the time. If you control the time on your wrist, you will know the time.

Everyone on a 2 year wait list sure wishes so. Think the overtly boastful nature of SM has killed that myth once and for all.

There’s a reason the wristwatch usurped the pocket watch. That hasn’t changed.

Never liked “smart” watches. Are you tracking them or are they tracking you?

Fun pic ... makes a great watch face. There’s a number of us who wear a smart watch part of the day for fitness reasons and then switch to our Rolexes or nicer watches for the remainder of the day.

I highly doubt it. Not saying a smart watch is a fad, they're here to stay but I believe having a mechanical marvel on the wrist will never get old.

Hilarious
On a serious note. When the batteries are flat the smart watches and phones aren't much good really. |
