I’ve tried many #’s of combinations for my collection, from 10 down to 2. I’ve tried most Rolex models and metals, along with other brands. I like a few PP’s, but my comfort zone is Rolex, and I don’t need a dress watch so sport models and DD40 are my choices in the Rolex lineup. My trials and tribulations have brought me to be comfortable somewhere between 3 and 6 pieces. (currently 5) I’ve done some consolidating over the past 6 months to get to my current 5. I’m a fan of all metals, depending on the watch, but definitely prefer PM if the combination is something I love. I’ll choose PM if the combo is close to each other, (SS vs PM Pepsi) but I’ll no doubt buy SS if that’s the combination I love and what’s offered. (example 116610LV for green sport) I like having at least one Rolex that I’m “not so careful with” (116610LN). Wear them in rotation, so no real daily, PM pieces getting 95% of the wrist time. So.... I think I generally went down the path you’re thinking. Good luck, enjoy the journey! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I should also add I use my Explorer II Polar as my "beater" watch and do not *really* even include it as part of my collection. More of my daily. I can't imagine life without the Polar!

I let go a number of my SS pieces (116520, Hulk, 16710 Pepsi, 116710LN, 16610, 116900) and some cashes for 2 PM pieces (Platinum Daytona and 116508 green). Still keep some SS pieces (16520 black, 116520 white, 5513, Hulk re-aquired, 116600, Milgauss white and Z-blue). Never been happier. Forget about scarcity of the SS, there is a special feeling wearing the PM.

Platinum Daytona and Platinum DD are without question the big dogs to me. Just stunning jaw dropping watches.

Yeah, so looking forward to getting it. And I am still super excited about the WG piece the AD has ordered. Really really happy with my shifting collection.

Every time I see an LB I want to own one someday, but then never figure I can pull off that much YG. It's such a stunning watch, I just think I am too big a wuss to wear it. How has it's wearability been for you?

Wearability for the YG Sub is no different from any other submariner other than the weight. Since you will be wearing platinum in the near future, the weight of it will melt away just like any other PM watch. As far as it being a noticeable/flashy watch… It is, but most people don’t notice your watch anyway, and there’s a lot of gold watches out there nowadays on men and women. But, of the five I have, this or the dd40 will get a complement every now and again. Overall, I find wearing my YG pieces a pleasant experience, nothing much different from wearing any of my others, just my own personal joy in wearing them.

Less is more. I’ve let go several watches and trying to get down to 8.
I’ve started to admire people who have only one to three watch collection. At worst I had over 20. I started to feel uncomfortable. But no regrets: This is a great journey. My way is leading to this: Less is more. Too much is just too much. Watches are ment to be worn and enjoyed. Even though one can admire a watch as a painting... Your way is the best way; as someone has said: ”Listen to your heart...” https://youtu.be/r1daKbRGKJ4 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

For those that have consolidated collections into PM or "Grails"...
I personally think 7-8 is a max collection limit. By nature you will always be drawn to 1-3 pieces and wear them the most and if you are not conscious about rotating things sit which to me is a waste. I currently have only SS watches and have owned the rose gold YM and a vintage yellow gold Datejust. I do miss precious metal but my lifestyle is casual and I like to play outside a lot which is why the YM got traded I was too anal at the time about beating up on gold versus stainless.
This post makes me want to re-analyze and maybe consolidate but I am really happy with the state of things. Collection Jaeger vintage deep sea Omega 60th speedy Blancpain Leman flyback Explorer II polar 16570 Aerospace 40mm GMTc LV (in process of purchasing) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I float up then consolidate and then float up again. Endless cycle. Being on the boards doesn’t help. Agree with today’s market “trying” pieces is easier as you don’t burn too
Much on the sale. I’d def add PM for several Less worn. |

Speaking of watch budget, just got off the phone with my AD about replacing the Hulk I had to trade to make the deal for the PM work. They said they think they can take care of me before the year is out. If I can get a 3 year newer Hulk back in the end of the deal, at MSRP, then this deal will go down as my best ever.

I wear my YG sub as a daily. It is actually less flashy than my prior TT sub IMO. Looks great with shorts and t-shirt or with my blue-grey scrubs or with my suit with blue shirt.
