Fortunately for me my wife is not into designer clothes. She loves Target, Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club etc.

Unfortunately, she is into Jimmy Choo shoes and LV purses. I think she now has 7 LV handbags and most of them are the limited edition ones which do hold some of their value but not like Rolex watches.

Here's a couple of tips on designer handbags:

Always retain the original receipt for authentic proof of purchase. Most used bag buyers really can't tell an authentic bag from a really good knock-off so they want the original receipt to help them authenticate the bag.

Many designer bags come with a "duster" bag which is a nice cloth bag in which to store the purse when not in use. Knock-off purses very rarely come with one of these. Always retain the duster bag as well for the same reasons as listed above.

Any tags or other paraphanalia that came on or with the bag should always be kept as complete as possible to help the purse retain as much resale value as possible.

My wife has 7 or 8 LV purses with matching shoes. She has Hermes, Channel, Gucci, etc. I've never, ever, ever thought about resale value. Then again, I don't think about it with my watches, either. I just like them and wear them.

But as for LV, I got one of their wallets and it is and has been the best d#mn wallet I've ever owned. And it is lasting forever. Just my $0.02...

My wife likes Dooney and Bourke purses. They sell them at Macys for approx $300.00. Comparatively cheap (compared to LV )and they seem to last pretty well.

ONLY $700 for an LV purse. Don't let my wife read that.
We get hosed in Canada.
Her last Gucci was around $2200 Cdn However, there are only 5 in Canada

The right, they have to have a matching wallet, for each purse.

Well actually they are about 10% cheaper than buying them at any of the ADs in Fukuoka. Limited selection but still cheaper . I wonder if any of the ADs in Fukuoka would even give a discount. Most are part of major department stores.

My wife isn't into designer stuff, especially LV since she doesn't like the monogram being plastered everywhere. I ended up getting her a Burberry purse and she likes that.

I, myself, carry a LV card wallet and I really like it. It's the black epi so it's discreet. No one would knows that it is an LV unless they knew LV.

I have a friend who is really into purses especially LV and she can spot the fake ones

"and I thought casio was overpriced"
