funny thing is this is 11 mm thick vs 12.2 mm for the 116500LN. daytona just shows more case curvature.

love the grey color particularly on this. It tones down the busy dial.

Virtually everyday I see a youtube video titled Omega xxx: the Sub killer, or AP: the Rolex killer, etc. Cracks me up. Rolex must be doing something right if everyone is trying to kill it. lol

They each have their place.

Only thing that bothers me with AP is that bezel wears down

Congrats!

OP, I'm also keen on this piece. Please could you share your wrist size and how this watch wears on your wrist?

Not if you wear it normally, I've seen plenty of 10 year plus ROs with crisp edges.

The ceramic Daytona is a nice watch but side by side with an AP it’s not in the same league, not even close.

Thanks.

I think it sits well on your wrist. I hope I can also get this reference from the boutique.

I'm very interested in this model. Do you have a boutique recommendation for NYC?

Especially given current market pricing, who would ever buy a Daytona over one of these??? At 12k vs 24k retail to retail there are arguments to be made depending, but I cant wait for mine...just came in and paid for, gets shipped to me Tuesday!

APs are not too bad a scratch magnet as some people say. My nephew has one and he kept saying that but when I got mine, it does not really scratch much with daily use. It is unforgiving, true, if you hit something, but it does not mysteriously get scratched up out of nowhere.

You ain’t wrong. I wore this watch for a few years and then sswitchedto a jumbo perpetual calendar. Absolutely exquisite time pieces but it is so difficult to maintain the finish. On a Rolex slight imperfections add to the character. On an AP they drive you crazy.

Cant go wrong with a ROC

But the 38mm is a tad small for my liking. Prefer the 41mm!

I think it is a fantastic watch an agree it bullies the Daytona quite well. The AP gray is so sweet especially in this 38mm and sub-dial contrast combination.

The Daytona while timeless and classic, looks like just any other chronograph out there. In the picture above, if I wasn’t a WIS there’s a strong possibility of thinking it’s a Speedmaster. The ROC on the other hand is legitimate haute horology and unique in every sense with an indescribable savoir faire entirely lacking in the Daytona.

That said, I am in the market for a yellow gold Daytona with the zenith movement!
