Watch to Round out Rotation

Good Morning Folks,

I'm looking for some suggestions as to what my next (and hopefully last watch for quite some time) will be.

I currently own a Sub ND and a DJ 36 fluted silver dial on jubilee. Up until recently I also owned a Speedy Moonwatch, but I didn't love the features and also thought it was just a touch large.

I'm looking for a watch that is a little more casual/sporty but also versatile. I'd like to be able to wear it with a polo shirt, but also dress it up if need be. Lastly, I would like for it to be a little less noticeable as the Sub and DJ really seem to garner attention which I would like to avoid with this one.

I have a wrist that is a little over 7". I've been looking at the White OP 39 and 34, as well as the Tudor Ranger Heritage. I'm open to any suggestions including Omega and maybe even Breitling. I took a look at the Omega AT GMT, but at 43 I think it would really stick out.

So what do you think?

Have you looked at the Aqua Terra 38.5 mm? I’m not crazy about the teak dial but I love everything else about it. I also like the Explorer I and the OP 36 with 3-6-9 dial. The white OP 39 pairs great with a ND sub.

An OP would be somewhat close to the smooth DJ but what I like out of the choices is that you’d be adding another Rolex. If you could save up a little more or swing it, a pre-owned Explorer or Explorer II would round this out pretty nicely.

Wow, those look great together. I will check out the AT 38.5, do they come in a white dial I wonder?

Sorry, forgot to mention that my DJ 36 silver is fluted and has jubilee bracelet, so I think it would be different enough from the OP.

I feel like the explorer I would be too similar to my Sub as far as the collection goes. The Exp II polar does look spectacular though.

36mm Explorer but as you said similar to the Sub in some ways.

You already have a "No-Date" Sub and that watch is the description of a watch you are looking for, except it is not under the radar enough.

Maybe consider going Grand Seiko?

You have the wrist to pull of the Patek 5524G Pilot Travel Time. It only comes in WG or colored gold, and new they run 49K (unless a grey can get you one cheaper). The masses haven't discovered this one yet, so prices are stable.

I think you need a PM watch. That being said, of the watches you mentioned, I'd pick the white OP.

Explorer 214270 MKII for sure. Extremely subtle and versatile. It can go on leather/nato/oysterflex with amazing results.

This is definitely the direction that I am leaning. I like the Explorer 214270, but I just don't know that it would be a good addition to what I already own.

Ah, missed the fluted variable.

Then the OP would be a sweet addition. A lot of great dials. I like white and black in the OP.

I think if you don’t round out with another Rolex but another brand you’ll end up flipping it for one later anyway.

After experimenting with a dozen watch combos, I am now settled (momentarily) with a SubC (date) and a black OP39. I am rotating them fairly evenly, with the Sub taking up a bit more wrist time. Using the OP mainly for travel in places where the Sub would be risky as it’s easily recognizable

You weren’t asking me but I’ll give you my thoughts. There is a lot of love here for the 39mm OP with a white dial...which is a beautiful, under the radar watch.
But for me, if I was going to go white, then this:

This is a great point, I will probably be sticking with Rolex.

The OP 39 is a frontrunner.

Tudor Ranger is quite interesting though and the EXP I is beautiful, just not sure if it makes the lineup diverse enough.

You already have two Rolex watches, both excellent choices. Now I would suggest going outside the Rolex family. Not sure why you are looking for sporty, when you already have the iconic sporty watch with the ND Sub.

I think you need something with a leather strap. I would go for a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso with an ostrich strap. Looks great with a polo, sporty yet sophisticated, and another icon of the watch universe. Another great option would be the Jaeger-LeCoultre Ultra Thin Moon in 39mm. I would get the grey dial with a brown leather strap.

The Sub is perfect. It is not really a very noticeable watch. I think you are over thinking this. The Sub does all the things you are looking for very well.

I love my Sub and agree that it is perfect. However I’ll have to disagree about it not being noticeable. With a polo on a casual Friday, it is certainly noticeable. There’s no mistaking that I’m wearing a Rolex.

I think the OP in white may be more nonchalant.
