Watch Glimpse???

I have 2 quick stories...Was at the doctor today...have back troubles....as he is checking me, out I briefly see a chronograph on his wrist and am trying like heck to see what it is. White jacket is obscuring it. Meanwhile ,I'm in agony laying on this table. I'm trying to be cool about it and not have him notice. Finally, as he is writing me a prescription, I see it ....the moment of truth.....very dissapointed...Seiko. I was thinking all awhile I could ask him about his Daytona....i was bummed out. Had high hopes!

The other day I had to meet with a customer....first time with this guy....right away I notice a real nice looking watch...appears to be Rolex... I'm getting glimpses as we walk through his facility. We finally stop, he leans forward on a table to show me some blue prints...I drop my pen so I can get a look....Datejust...finally I score a real watch...I was pumped...The things I do to try and be conspicuos but get a glimpse..I think he busted me though so I didnt ask him about it.

What stories do you have on trying to get a glimpse and maybe strike a conversation ???

OK, since when dis Seiko stop being a real watch? We have many members here that have them and they are great time pieces that have lasted thru thick and thin for some. Just ask Gedanken.

One of my best friends is an ER Dr. He owns a TT Blue Sub but rarely wears it to work. Guess what he wears there...his Seiko.

BTW, Seiko lume kills Rolex. Here's a shot of mine

Good story. My primary care doctor is a WIS so we have something to talk about when I am turned and coughing.

I'm a resident physician, going to graduate in June. Will be working as a "real doctor" for a year before returning for fellowship (further specialized training). I've never worn my Rollies to the hospital, usually my Timex digital, Hamilton auto, or Seiko autos.

I have doctor and nurses in the family and as friends, I have noticed that they typically wear a digital with a stopwatch function...

I know at a colts game, to set in the first 10 rows of the 50 yard line you need a rolex to fit in. I never saw so many in one place in my life. you can see a few at the high limit rooms in casinos. It is amazing to see the watches professional people wear. It can be interesting some of their choices.

Was at a potential clients last Monday, in a meeting in the board room, nervous as hell, have my laptop connected to the projector to show off some network improvements, about to start the slides and the boss notices I have a Rolex DJ as the clock on the top right :-) he had also noticed I was wearing my DJ. as soon as he mentioned it, up went the sleeves, A Rolex on every wrist :-) Was awesome, no two alike :-)

Good story IDK01. All of the Rolex's in one room broke the ice for ya. Nice looking Seiko too. The Seiko my doc had on was a good looker. Black and gold but not knowing the models, I couldnt tell you what it was. Looked nice though.

LOL, it's amazing what us WIS would go through to get a glimpse at another person's timepiece. I also tend to rewind and pause movies if there is a particularly interesting looking timepiece an actor may be wearing.

Also, while we're on the topic of Seiko Monsters, here is the cousin to the Black Monster, the Yellow Monster (SKZ203K1), limited edition of 300:

Brad, we may just change your mind yet about Seiko's. ;o) For many of their low end divers, bang for the buck, they simply can't be beat and as mentioned, the lume is simply outstanding!

For the Black and Orange (most common ones), anywhere from $127 and up. The Yellow one is no longer produced and may fetch anywhere from $1200-$2000. There are also blue and red ones averaging about $300 and up.

Brad, sorry, not hi-jacking thread here but since this topic got intermingled with yours, just responding to a question on it.

I'm always looking at watches: I probably look like some sort of pervert with a wrist fetish. Well I always make it a point to identify all watches I come across. My dentist always wears a Citizen sports watch. The priests at my parish wear a Seiko sports watch and a Loomis (?). This Chinese restaurant I frequent has a waiter with a DateJust with a Thunderbird dial. My daughter's doctor wears a really cool looking Suunto. If I ever go digital again, I think I might skip the G Shocks at try one of those.

most doctors in my area don't wear rolex. most wear a timex ironman, the same one they've had since residency.

there are some omegas on the older docs. a few swanky younger docs have higher-end tags.

the lawyers i know, well that's a different story.

many many many seikos

Seiko is a great watch, I have two of them too. They too last longer and most professionals especially in the medical fields likes to wear digital watches/quartz for convinience.
