I had the 40mm for about 10 years and then flipped for the 42mm polar. No regrets. The 40mm ExpII isn’t a classic like the 16710 or 5513

My preference is the 16550. 16750 is the one to get, they are still affordable.

If you want the 42mm, then I’d buy new. Obviously, if you want the 40mm, you’ll be buying used. But, 42mm definite go new and experience the Rolex AD buying experience!

Yes, I recommend the Explorer 2, and yes- I paid MSRP. Additionally, I liked the polar so much, so much I bought the black dial 5 months later.

Just picked my 216570 Explorer from an old member on WUS .. and I saved more than switching to GEICO!! I have over 20 years collecting, adequate hands-on watch smith experience .. so I always look to save $1K here and there ... where I can.
So, I advocate for a CPO type of watch collecting ... granted ... if you have the experience. If you have adequate funds and you value your time doing other things ... then the AD is always the best place. |

Keep in mind that buying from AD gives you 2 benefits. First, you get your own name on the warranty card, and second, you build history with the AD. After buying exp ii you may be “eligible” for, say, a SubC Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I own a 16570 and couldn't imagine owning it's upsized sibling. My wrist is smallish and the 16570 is perfect for me.
