Rolex prices post Brexit (Not an investment thread)
Hi all,
I currently have a 4 rolex collection and I am quite content with them (for someone who gets bored easily this is a big thing). JC DS, SD 16600, Bluesy pre-ceramic and SD43 mk2. I have not been too enthused with many of the recent Rolex offerings and also find the AD game painful. I do quite like the discontinued white gold skydweller with black dial and white inner ring and also have the hots for a 1680 red sub and a 1675 to scratch the vintage itch. For some reason I am not a big fan of the hulk, pepsi (although I do like the mk3 colours) or the batman so have avoided some of the hype. That said my kidney is on offer to be first on the list for a new coke gmt I have spoken with a few dealers (uk based) who have said the market has softened and unless it's a must have / long term hold (I am not a flipper in the sense of buy at retail and turn a profit but I guess I am in the sense that I have bought and sold / traded a tt daytona, another 16600, a 16710 pepsi and an SD43 mk2. In all instances I traded for another watch) then don't pick it up just yet. The reason I mention this is I like to chop and change as I get bored easily which luckily has not been too costly. But the dealers have told me if I buy now and want to change in 6 months the landscape may look very different. Whilst I do not view my collection as investments, I also don't want to buy something at 10k today, change my mind in 6 months and find it's worth considerably less. So I just wondered what peoples thoughts are. On one hand economically the bubble has to burst if the world enters a recession. On the other hand with the choke on supply maybe Rolex is resilient enough to weather the storm? I am leaning toward observing the market with a price I would be happy to pay for the 3 watches I would consider. What are your thoughts on watches post Brexit? |

The British have been fooled into making a mess of their economy for no reason. I believe the falling currency values are at play which Rolex delivering less models to the UK. It seems the UK cannot eat crow and back out of brexit, to their own peril.... it’s easy to envision a UK with far less demand for Rolex in the next 6 months... the question in my mind is will Rolex reduce supply further due to currency being so soft or will they raise prices.... let me consult my crystal ball
