Buying a Rolex in Aruba

I have recently bought a Rolex DJ41 Blue dial smooth bezel on a jubilee in Aruba for USD 7.1k from an AD

I thought Caribbean Islands were meant to be cheaper.

Have I been ripped off?

How much are these watches in the US?

Nah you're ok. Could maybe have saved a bill or two on the grey.

Now you ask, after you bought it?!

Did you not do research before you went out there so you knew what would be a good deal?

Congratulations on your new watch. I suspect it was Gandelmans you visited then?

I love Aruba - got married there in fact. Where did you stay?

To be honest no I didnt do any research as I didn't expect to buy a Rolex whilst out there.

I just saw the watch and wanted it.

Yes, I bought it from Gandelmans. The gent who sold it to me was great.

I was on a cruise and one of the ports was Aruba

Ah I see. Makes sense now.

Well based on your configuration, you got it at literally just below (UK) retail price by the looks of it.

And anyway, it's a nice story behind the watch - you got it whilst visiting Aruba.

Wait until you’ve declared it and paid the VAT on the way home

Already home back in the UK via Miami, FL.

Didn't declare it and no issues getting it through. Just wore it. Put box in one suitcase and the papers in another

4.6% off list and you didn't pay sales tax. Not bad at all.
