Rose gold or platinum Datograph up and down?

What do you think, rose or platinum? I think rose is warmer than the platinum (which seems a bit sterile on the wrist), but platinum easier to dress down so more versatile. If it was you, what would you choose?

I’ve owned them both and still have the RG. I find the contrast of the RG and the black just perfect. I’ve actually been wearing this more than my 5270P

I’d pick the platinum. More versatile for sure, in my opinion. It really depends on what other watches you have and how you’re going to use this one. Can’t go wrong though

I went with platinum. I think you have more strap options with a white metal.

Personally Platinum for me if i had a choice.

I feel RG is in "Fashion" currently. I like it personally, but going from what my Daughter tells me its the "In thing" on social media blah blah.

Don't take this wrong i have a RG watch thats from the 70's that i think is the shizam. Full RG models, i.e. bracelet also, i think will have a shelf life in regards whats the current trend.

Most likely get flamed for that opinion....

honestly both are great, it really depends on what you want. the platinum is more versatile but who the heck cares, I'd wear the RG with jeans and shorts

I prefer white metals, so Platinum. If I went with gold I'd have to buy gold color assessories like gold belt buckle, gold horse bit on my Gucci loafers. Yes, I am OCD about matching metals.

I prefer this in RG as I feel without the Romans of the previous model this lacks a bit of character, the old one I'd take in Plat.

I much prefer the platinum version, particularly with the silver subdials. It's also a lot more versatile.

Pt but I wish it was not a brick. These brands need to wake up and realize a lot of buyers want comfortable watches on their wrist not boat anchors. They could literally make all their watches in steel instead of gold and charge the same prices or more.

Thank you all for the input. Tried on the platinum today again. Thinking that is the one. Then along comes the original version in platinum...

I know that OG Dato, or more precisely the strap.

Re the original question, I bought the PT as it definitely is more wearable. But, the RG is a better looking watch all around. There are many cases where this is true, the coloured metal being a nicer looking watch, BUT I’ve almost always gone from the more wearable watch day to day (white metal).

I had the same choice with my Vagabondage but in that case I couldn’t leave the RG on the table.

I have a 6.25 inch wrist and honestly never had an issue with the Up/Down PT. So long as the strap was in the right pin hole, the watch was close on perfect on the wrist in terms of comfort. (Not so much in terms of the visual, it is too big for me, by a mm or so).

Not me, but I’m pretty sure I know the owner as that’s a pretty recognizable strap.

I was back and forth on the OG Dato versus the Up/Down originally too. But I think that’s maybe an easier decision than PT versus RG.

Platinum is definitely the way to go. I have a Lange 1 in RG I love but really wish it was WG/Plat/SS. Plat is so flexible.

I had the same dilemma and in general I prefer the look of white gold, platinum or steel over rose gold but in this watch I really love the contrast between the RG and the dial. So I ended up with the RG version.. Nice contrast to my collection too.. But cannot go wrong with either.

Try wearing one for a day. You’ll realize that it’s not what you’d expect. I was worried about the weight before getting the dato perp in platinum. I’ve been wearing it for a week straight and it hasn’t bothered me at all. In fact, the heft is a great reminder to look down at the watch and smile :)

I wish that were the case with me but even simple time only pm watches can feel uncomfortable to me. I realize not everyone feels this way. Its me

Last time I had a PT Datograph on my wrist I nearly dropped it on the ground trying to remove it. I had palpitations lol

Lange boutique uptown they were super chill about it I shit you not I slapped my hand towards it and pinned it to my thigh with my wrist. Considering the up down was fairly new at the time and the retail was 89k or something I was like...
