Yellow pearl 116610
Hi guys,
Few days ago i noticed one of my subs has a more yellowish pearl. I have a few different models from different years and i didnt noticed it before. Has any one seen this before? The ones i had to compare at the moment were from '12 and '13. And the one with the yellow pearl is from '16. I added a picture and hope you guys could tell me more. Had to lower the quality. If needed, i could add some other pictures. Kind regards, RolexAMS |

You're correct, the "pearl" is a tiny sapphire dome that contains the luminous paint.

Pearl color is always the same color as the luminous hour marks!
Did you buy it from an AD?

In the dark it's the same blue as the dots on the dail.
I know its not a real pearl, but the dot contains luminous paint that changed after just 3 years? The watch is from 2016. I have different subs from 2002 till 2018. The first one is a 16613 and the others are 4 116610 and one 116613. And those are all white, just this '16 one isnt. Yes, its bought at an AD in Switserland. |

Yellow pearl 116610
Yes, you could call it that, but equally accurate to call it a pearl. But Rolex calls it...an “embedded capsule” As for the color difference when in artificial light, it could just be the material that was sourced in the year it was made. In other words a bit more milky. A few years later the same pearl may have been made from a slightly clearer material. Does the color difference appear in strong daylight? Daylight or light at home doesn't mater. As i said from the 1166.. subs, i have from '12, '13, '16, '18 and '19 and havent seen it before.
Still its strange that after a few years it is such a difference. |
