I used to hate DD and DJ...

I used to hate DD and DJ...I think it's old man's watch. Since the 2018 Rolex bring the Jubilee bracelet and combined with the Pepsi GMT...it does catch a lot of attention to those who doesn't like the jubilee before. I think the DD and the older 116334-hidden clasp one are really beautiful bracelet, must cop one of those in the future!

The Jubilee on the 36 is what I would consider perfection. The 41 it’s very good, that clasp is somewhat acceptable but far from ideal from an aesthetic perspective. The DD and DJ though, 36 or 40, or 41 is stunning eye candy as well as comfort and truly classic Rolex. They’re for young and old, sport or dress. I’ve had and have a few and absolutely love them.

The watch is a success and proven.

I still have the TT, won’t let that one go. Especially with the silver stick.

The DD is on another level.

Funny you mention the “old man watch” stigma. Was having dinner and drinks with my then girlfriend and another couple. The guy makes a comment about my DJ and calls it an old man watch while he shows me what a real watch is. I am pretty sure it was either a Graham or U-boat.

In any case. Modern 6 digits look nothing like their 5 digit counterparts. I actually really like the Rolex classic line. No need for a DJ but hope to pick up a DDII some day.

As an old man myself, I'm hopeful that a genius such as yourself avoids these references at all cost.

"Hate" seems a tad strong.

Often times stuff that is thought of as "for old men" is just stuff that has withstood time's test and worked as designed. You know, like old men. Nothing wrong with that, imo.

The DJ especially in the 36mm is a very honest watch. It does anything you need.

In fairness, he did say " used to hate". Maybe now that he has been on the forum for a few months he better appreciates the function more that the star power. Maybe....but doubtful.

You might consider the 18234 as well. I love the Day function and double quick set after having had an 1803 for a number of years!!! Just a great watch!!!

You're right, it's not an old man's watch. It's now a ladies' watch!

Thanks mister

I’ll encourage anyone to add a DJ to their collection.

One day I hope to have a DD.

I agree with my friend from Casablanca that the Jubilee on 36mm is best, was my very first Rolex, and the President is always good.

At lunch on Thursday at Harry’s Hanover Square, with a 34 year old man, sporting a DJ, smooth bezel, light silver dial w/sticks, oyster bracelet. I said I was surprised, thought the younger guys were going for the larger cases. He replied “maybe some are, but this is perfection”.

Nice watches but for me the fluted bezel dates the watch and that may be where the old man label comes from.

The smooth bezel watches are beautiful and clean.

Before Rolex offered a Day-Date with the double quick setting feature, I bought an 18k yellow gold"Juvenia Premier. It looked almost the same as the Rolex .
The cost ( we were Jewelers at that time, ) was about one third of the wholesale of a Rolex.\After about thirty years the company would no longer service anything made before the Japanese firm took over the new ownership.
My Rolex day-date, still is serviced by the company, and looks as good as new. The other one was junked out for old gold, and movement for what parts were still good.
