How much do you really love your watch?

I've bought a lot more than I've sold (fortunately or unfortunately), but I don't think any I currently have are going anywhere.

I know what you mean. I have owned two Omega SMP's for 5 and 6 years but sold them both. The were fine but I just got bored with them. I really love my two Seiko divers and I think my Sub LV will be a long term deal but time will tell.

I think there are watches that are not meant to be kept and there are those that needs to be kept matter how ugly they are or how cheap they were bought..

I have loved watches all my life and have never parted with one till now. I'm giving my son a 25 year old dress Seiko(never worn) and have also bought him watches in the past. The Rolexes will be handed down to him in time but will never sell one. One watch I will also give to him one day is my great grandfather's Waltham pocket watch. It's a gold hunters case with a hand carved porcelain dial and is beautiful. He bought it in 1903 or 1904 and used it everyday. I think it's a beautiful heirloom and hope my son keeps it and takes care of it like I have!!!

The majority of watches that I have bought I still own. There are a few that I bought at ridiculously low prices and have resold them for a profit so I could then buy another watch. All of my purchases are planned and nothing is spontaneous.

i have the same feeling...i posted my TOG on the sales forum and suddenly change my mind..i have a good offer from a fellow member but..i just cant let go of it..i feel like i might not be able to buy a TOG at a cheaper price...and i notice nobody had ever sold one in the forum...mostly regular and new dj's but never a TOG...

I bought my GMT IIC APR 2008, I still have it. I am just fortunate to get one. I am planning to give it to my son as a gift on his college graduation this coming May. I bought my ss daytona dec 2008, and I still have it, its a keeper, I wish i could still get the white face when opportinity comes. I am almost 50 years old, I tend to enjoy and appreciate rolex watches at this age. I use to ignore them when I was 20, and 30s, but as you grow older, you tend to appreciate good quality watch and also cars.

50 is the new 40 robert..hahahaha and i agree with you as we grow older we tend to value things and money much than we are younger....and if you decided not to keep that daytona of your just pm me...hahahaahah

Oscar, wasn't that TOG the one your wife was wearing in your anniversay pictures? It looks stunning on her - really a pretty watch. I don't blame you for having second thoughts about selling it.

I will be buried with mine, actually she might have them give it to her after the funeral. I like your comment "I wear them for me." Take a good look at my only rolex, Bark finish Burlwood dial. It instantly reeks of a 30 year old watch. And not what someone would pick to show off. But, It is the one I like, and that is all that matters.

I have a hard time owning more than 2 watches, I guess I am just trying to be practical, that is why I used to flip, to buy another. The real reason I turned to a Rolex was the history of the tool line, that is why I get so annoyed when people want PCL's and junk like that on the tool line, they just don't understand and admire the history like I do I guess. Seriously, if Rolex keeps blinging out the tool line, ex. GMT IIC, I will never buy a new model again, if they don't respect their history, screw them, Omega still does.
People who buy the name are petty IMHO, they are the ones wanting their watches to be shinier than the next guy, the "look what is on my wrist" Rolex owners. I am embarrassed if someone notices my watches, I wear them for me, because I love them and I appreciate the mechanical working's inside of them.
