AP Chronograph owners: where do you keep your seconds hand?
I'm not too fond of the seconds hand at the 12 o'clock since it blocks the "view"
I don't want to keep it running either, so now I just keep it at the 6 o'clock. How about you? Photo: my 25860 |

 Straight up for me. Doesn’t bother me. Only watch that did was an old Glashutte Original that had the date at 12:00. |

I keep mine at 7 seconds (or minutes) past the hour. I think it looks visually best there and doesn't obscure the AP logo.

I thought I was the only nut case. I used to keep it between 35 and 40 seconds. I think I finally got over it and now just leave it at zero.

 I think we're all nut cases! But strategically positioning the quite large hand is in effect a contributing factor to the dial design.

Fun thread, I'm the same, I keep my Daytona at 6 because I just love all the reading you can do on that dial
 and at 12 on my ROO as the logo is at 3. I let them run every couple of weeks just to clear the cobwebs and see the watch in action.

On my Daytona I'd start the chrono when the small seconds hand reached 12 o'clock. Then I'd have 2 seconds hands spinning around, which is visually more interesting to me then letting the big seconds hands just sit stil.

I use my daytona as a GMT since it has a 12 hour counter. Have to keep it running though otherwise it's a pain to reset.

This is so funny I never thought to pause the seconds hand out of zero. It would drive me nuts not having it reset.

After years of angst, I've found peace with the second hand at exactly 8. It most closely follows the visual rule of ten and two without encroaching on the subdials. Simply put, there is no better way.
