What’s Your New Year’s Day Menu?

Ours is:
  • Pork for good health

  • Black Eyed Peas for good luck

  • Greens for money

  • Black Berry Pie, for a little sweetness in life

  • And, because we are in the South, can’t forget the corn bread.

Here is the pie my better half just pulled out of the oven. She picked the blackberries on our farm and made the crust herself. Only thing left to do is put the meat on the grill. Guess I’m up.

Happy New Year's Everyone.

I put a cup of Baileys in a blender with milk, vanilla ice cream, half a Toblerone bar and ice.

It’s brekky and lunch.

Always pork and sour kraut with mashed potatoes, corn and apple sauce. Long time local and family tradition.

Black eyed peas for me.

However, due to festivities last night I started today with coffee and Advil.

Mostly dry rub. I put a very light layer of bbq sauce at the end for about 5 mins under the broiler. Sadly I was out of charcoal otherwise they would have finished on the grill.

I tried cooking these in an InstaPot. Cuts the time down massively.

Believe it or not, I boil pork in classic coke. Put bbq sauce on for and leave in fridge for several hours or over night. Then quickly toast on the grill. Messy, but sales time and taste great.

Since I read this yesterday, I can't stop thinking about it. After work will pick up the ingredients for this delicious treat.....
